We brought a new puppy home on Saturday and he's been having very loose stools which we chalked up to stress of the trip home and being in a new place, should note we are feeding the same food as the breeder and he had a dose of de-wormer on Friday. I have a vet appointment for him tomorrow but this evening his still had some blood in it. Wondering if this is cause for enough concern to take him to the emergency vet?

Update. Took him in to vet this morning and they ran a fecal test that came back negative. Pup is in great shape and they chalked it up to stress. Gave a 7 day anti-diarrhea treatment to help firm things up.
The test can be negative with Giardia and/or Coccidia. If the 7 day treatment doesn’t work you may need 14-21 days. Also over feeding can be the cause so back off a bit and feed a tbs of plain pumpkin and plain active yogurt

Pup had a 2 doses of his meds yesterday and then had a bowel movement this morning that was substantially more firm than what he had been having with no sign of the blood.

That’s good but 7 days may not cure it. It tends to come back particularly if it’s Giardia

Most likely not anything serious. His energy and his appetite are normal. If your puppy isn't experiencing fevers and lethargy and appears well hydrated. The diarrhea is most likely from the change in his water source and stress. Is your water supply supplemented by a well system? Dewormers may cause loose stools related to gut irritation.

The picture noted shows semiformed loose stool. Just as in humans, if your puppy has enough diarrhea it may cause local irritation and bleeding from the perirectal area.
