Very Interesting Jan. 2008 RFTN Judges Corner
Ok, heres the senerio ---- An Amateur 1st series was a double with an honor. The long retired mark was a dead bird thrown under the arc of the flyer. The long mark was about 300 yards from the line. The flyer was about 65 yards from the line and thrown left to right. The test dog completes the test and honors on lead. The first running dog gets a no bird on the flyer. The second running dog comes to the line, handler signals for the birds, the first bird is down and when the flyer is shot it is wounded, not dead, and was walking around quacking in open ground (no cover). The judges, for at least 10 seconds do not call a no bird nor do they call the dogs number for the dog to be sent. The gunners start walking towards the duck and the dog breaks and picks up the live duck. One of the judges told the handler to put his dog on lead and honor.
Does this seniaro sound familiar? How do you think a guest judge answered this question?
