Below is there schedule (lost the formatting in copying grrrr)

DATE OPPONENT RESULT/TIME September 2 Northern Colorado W 63-6 September 8at Louisiana Tech W 45-44 September 15at UNLV W 49-14 September 23Charleston Southern W 66-10 September 29at Idaho W 48-20 October 7Utah State W 52-37 October 12at San Jose State W 42-35 October 28New Mexico State W 50-13 November 10Fresno State W 37-30 November 16at Nevada W 28-26 November 23No. 19 Boise State W 39-27 December 1Washington W 35-28

Boise State wasn't the same as they had been in the past. The only "real" team on the schedule was a subpar Pac 10 team who they had to rally from behind to beat at home. Merry Christmas Georgia.

The BCS thought so...and unfortunately they're all the matters right now....

The Rainbow Warriors also seem to have some issues with good sportsmanship, too.....

The final score will pretty much lay to rest BCS logic on this game at least.....unless 36 of Georgia's players get suspended at halftime.....;-)

I had been so excited about this game. It ended up being one of the worst I've ever seen.

Colt Brennan, welcome to defense as it's played in the SEC.....;-)

With the exception of Arkansas regards,

Or Florida I guess, at least yesterday.

I have said all along that Hawaii has no business being ranked in the top 25 because they play nobody with a pulse. This is a great big example of why the BCS is useless. Way too many teams that are good for where they play, but not worth the time of day playing the big boys get ranked and screw up polls, points, and computer ranking.
Do you think Colt would have been a Hiseman candidate if he actually had to play against any quality teams? Not really picking on Hawaii, my USF Bulls should never have shown up in the rankings either

I was hoping that Hawaii would play a good game, those kids traveled over 4,200 miles to play in the Sugar Bowl. The City Of New Orleans kind of adopted the Rainbow Warriors, with French Quarter balconies adorned in all things Hawaian and so were the bars and many of the restaurants. Much of the hotel staffs wore Hawiian shirts and lais.

Back on the college football thread, I stated that Georgia would blow them out as well as USC blowing out Illinois and Oklahoma blowing out Va Tech. Since we will never have a College Football playoff system, I thought the BIG bowls games this year have been for the most part, boring.

Instead of the obvious mismatches that we had, better TV viewing would have been;

USC vs Oklahoma
Georgia vs Missouri

As for unranked Michigan beating Florida, the Wolverines finally won a big game this year!

Can someone tell me why UGA, a team from the Old South uses the battle hymn of the republic for a fight song? The only worse choice would be Marching thru Georgia:twisted:
Bob, when was the last time you spent any time in Atlanta or Athens, Ga? It is populated by a huge majority of Democrats and we know Democrats have no sense of history.

Democrats….I suspect you are being politically correct. There is a reason they refer to themselves as “the dirty south” and it has more to do with the color of dirt than a political party affiliation. Not surprised they want to rewrite history.;-)

As far as NO adopting the “Rainbow” warriors…that is not much of a surprise. Lots of rainbow flags in that town. What is the next street over from Bourbon Street?

Chartres St on the westside of Bourbon and Royal St on the eastside.

I'll bet many think Boubon St was named after a whiskey.

Back in 66 when the town was trying to come up with a name for their new NFL team, the New Orleans Bourbons was second to Saints!

I still like Bourbons over Saints and has more to do with the heritage of the city than Saints. One name is from a song and the other had to do with the founding of the city.

Am I correct in figuring that Bourbon St. has to do with the French royals of that name?
Correct, the city was founded during the reign of the Bourbons. What is historically incorrect is pairing the Flur de Lis with the Bourbons. The Flur de Lis was actually the symbol of earlier Sun Kings. The Flur de Lis became so ingrained into French culture that the symbol became more French than that of the Sun dynasty.

I saw for the first time this weekend a purple Flur de Lis on a billbord entering the city of New Orleans welcoming LSU fans to the BCS Championship game. UL has long used a red Flur de Lis as their logo and of course the Saints use a gold one. The new purple LSU
Flur de Lis looked awesome!

They played a good schedule and even beat Auburn. I think UC should have been in that bowl on the basis of same record and beating USF. Give credit to Oregon for rebounding. I think when they lost their QB, they were in disarray. They played in the bowl game like they played through most of their season.

I'm pulling for WVU tonight. I'm hoping that they can overcome losing their coach and put on a good show.

I'm going to leave all of you with the politically correct, Republican or Demorcrat, fight songs or whatever!!! GOOOO Dogs!! Will be a dissapointment not to play for the National Title next year. We are full of freshman and sophmores. Moreno will be in the race for the Heisman if he doesn't get hurt!!!

It is true that the Battle Hymn of the Republic and our fight song (we call it "Glory") both have the same tune. That tune was first used in a 1856 revivalist hymn called "Say brothers will you meet us." Later the tune was used for "John Brown's Body" (John Brown's body lies a mouldering in the grave) and eventually for the Battle Hymn and the Georgia fight song. Auburn also uses the tune although we (Georgia) used it first. Auburn says they used it first, but they lie. (Auburn lies, but Georgia Tech lies and cheats)

Please don't lump Athens (or the rest of Georgia for that matter) in with Atlanta.
