let's just say i'm glad that we ran hrc for his 1st test.. the work wasn't too hard, but he had too many problems pulling off of the 1st bird both times, (louder duck calls would've worked wonders today) so i had to handle on both go birds.. ran blinds pretty good, and other marks perfect, but i guess distance isn't everything.. on top of that he was AMPED up and defiantely needs some more time with training "groups" and holding blinds yatta yatta.. confident to run at the seasoned/senior level just need to get some control and work on the line with him and we'll be there.. :)

time to bring the marks in a bit regards

Curious. What Happen?
first series was a water land double one mark to right about 70 yards, he locked on that bird and didn't hear the duck call for the 2nd bird and didn't see it at all. it was about 70 yards as well between 2 trees.. ran the 1st bird down 1st. then came back and had to run "go" bird as a blind 2nd... then there was a land blind which he ran well, then a water blind which he also ran fairly well. both straight forward blinds..

second series was a walkup bird at 20 yards away. no problems there. walk over to the pond and a water double. first bird down was across pond on a point under a tree about 35 yards. 2nd bird down was to the right about 30 yards. he was so amped up i couldn't get him to focus on anything plus the gunshot at the line was new to him and he really just didn't pay attention. then on the way back from the 2nd bird there was a diversion bird thrown about 10 feet from the line

How long were the marks and blinds? Were they in the same field?

marks/blinds didnt' go over 75 yards on land, and over 35-40 yards on water.. looked so simple.. and would've been if dum dum was paying attention. all done in the same location the pond is like two ponds connected with a small channel and the field marks were at the pond but pointing away.

Sometimes they look easier than they are. Time to teach him to swing with the gun.

And how was the WEATHER? It *snowed* over here the past 2 days... passes looked absolutely miserable from my view! I had sent emails earlier in the week inquiring whether they had an opening at the Started tests but didn't hear back. Was going to call, but once the storm system moved in, I had a hard time getting excited. ;)

Good meeting you. Glad you had a good time. Hattie, Willie and Mercy all passed the finished. Wow the mechanics of the gun and no calls from the guns took a little getting used to, got the hang of it just in time to get a ribbon. Trying to get a dog to move on the line after 2 years of convincing it not to flinch was a trip. Enjoy those wingers.

That mature gentleman Andy with the 4820 pt dog picked up another 15 pts. I am sure they are both taking a hot soak tonight.

Don't give up! Keep it going, you may want to back down to a junior or started test just to give you and him some experience which will build confidence for both of you. GOOD LUCK!!!
