Well, last week I thought I saw a dead dog lying on the side of the road and when I realized he was alive the rescue process began.

A local animal rescue advocate 2.5 hours away spent over 2 days locating him for me and then about 2 hours capturing him.

Through the long car ride, 2 flea baths - coat de-matting, ear cleaning, scab soaking and peeling, more brushing, blow dryer, etc... etc ... being walked ON A LEASH... this dog a sweetheart! Not a growl or raised lip - he is clearly nervous and un-sure but accepting of attention and wags his tail with true emotion when he is receiving pets and FOOD oh god more FOOD FOOD FOOD!

A true wild animal - this will take some time - but I believe he will be worth it and will be a GOOD DOG for whoever is meant to be his forever home. He is already learning to trust. Today he came trotting up to US when we went outside... its been a matter of us going to him since yesterday. He is submissive wants desperatly to be with other dogs... After Monday we'll let him get that chance a bit.

Will be going to the vet on Monday. Please cross your fingers for heart worm negative!

Wow...he cleaned up nice!! Do you have any "before" pictures??

Kudos to you for going the extra mile!! Not many people would.

People like you make me proud to be a member of the RTF.

Good job,
Terry

What a great thing for you to have done. He looks like a happy guy now and what a handsome dog. I know you're a long ways away and likely will place him close to home, but I may know someone here who would love to have him and would be a 'til death do us part home.

Kudos-

Hey Miriam -

I'll be up your way this August - running Colonial Derby and training with Ginny for a few days - also picking up one of my boys from Jill Volsche in VT that week.

If you are serious PLEASE put that family in touch with me. He'll probably need a few months of re- coup time (training, eating, learning how to be a dog) before heading out anyway! What a possability! He'll be too HOT in SC anyway LOL - I have a feeling he will have a nice thick coat when all is said and done.

PM sent! (Well-give me a minute!) :)

Can't think of too many nice things to say to you - wow. What a great act of kindness. And thank you!

What a wonderful thing you've done to give this guy a chance. (And how fantastic that there was someone local who could devote the time it took to bring him in.) He already looks like a happy dog. Keep us posted on Monkey's progress.

I have met Danielle a few times and she is a class act for sure
This statement led me to look at her web site to see who she is....Holy Cow, she is married to freaking McGuyver! Check out that dude's credentials...certified instructor in everything except archery and knife fighting. Some of that stuff sounds fun (close quarters handgun training for example). Too bad I live too far away to take any lessons.

Anyway, awesome job with Monkey and great web site too. Let us know what the vet says on Monday.

Pullin' for a clear heartworm test regards.

He has a beautiful face! :D He's going to make somebody a great companion.

Thanks for letting him be one of the "lucky" ones.

LOL ::lol:

I'll have to tell Steve he needs his own T.V. Show ... Maybe that will bring in more money than training dogs and can support my habbit of picking up street mutts! :)

Thanks for ALL the nice compliments about helping out the Monkey, he seams to be a good boy so far just unsure of everything and everyone - I am just doing what I thought as right in this case and Steve was on board so the support definately helps.

HuntinDawg, if your ever in SC near the beach look us up! We can train dog and shoot guns YEE HAW!

Danielle, ya done good once again! That dog has the "look" of a good one. Hope to see you Saturday.
