Whatever you want.A white jacket is traditional but since you're not handling, it doesn't matter.
You hope not to have to handle, however if you need to, then it is best to be prepared! Would you walk to the line without a whistle? Dogs really don't need a come in whistle....yet we take one with us.

Walk to the line prepared - white jacket, black gloves at a minimum.

I like halter tops and short shorts - white of course! And don't forget your flip flops ;>)
they used to accuse a certain young lady from the Carolina's of using that tactic in a trial or two on the last series except for the fact that her dogs were exceptional and she won a National with one of them and a NDC with the other. So she really didnt need the distractions.

I have a really darling little sundress that I just LOVE and look fabulous in (if I do say so myself). Matching yellow crocs and that cute little Orange Gonia megawhistle- lets just say it's a vision you won't soon forget.

Accessories are everything regards

Great thinkin Big Bro - keep up your attention to details and we might even let you run a Fluffy Dawg.

white is not necessary, this is for a derby HANDLING IS NOT PERMITTED!!! if you handle you are disqualifited. so the halter top and shorts do not have to be white. bud

Oh handling is permitted, no one is going to say no you can't handle, just know when you do that you are DQed.

These are young dogs in the Derby and young dogs will make mistakes that may require you to handle. If you go to the line unprepared and you find yourself needing to handle (switch, returning to old fall, if your standards are not met on the water, etc) then you may find yourself kicking yourself in the rear.

Just because it is the Derby does not mean you should not give your best and go to the line prepared.......no, handling is not what you want to have to do in the Derby as it is an automatic DQ, but that is no excuse not to be prepared yourself.

Wear white, black gloves at a minimum (and your whistle ;) )

my my, have we become sophisticated....;-)

Old Coots should be able to wear whatever they like, especially whatever is comfortable, appropriate wear includes cargo shorts, Big Smith or Carhart overalls, khakis, or jeans, a nice white Columbia fishing shirt will keep you cool, you can leave the black gloves at home, be cool , be comfortable, and enjoy yourself

Over the years I've come to appreciate that my friend bubba is a good honest ******* friend. I love em as the brother he is. I've also come to appreciate we all have our inner demons that fight to come out once in awhile and well like a good friend I support bubba in his own personal fight. Few years back I traveled out of our normal stomping grounds to go to a remote HT with him and well he lost the battle with his inner demon once we stepped foot on the grounds. Needless to say he had a great day just "being who he is" and I have to say with him so relaxed little Lilly ran like never before. I snapped a pic of him celebrating his ribbon. I made a promise to him that day to never post this picture where he'll be embarrassed....

and i'm sure you'all will come to appreciate the special friend bubba really is and support him in his fight....

My dog is entered in his first Derby this Friday and not sure what the correct attire is for a handler. White or no white?
It really doesn't matter. Be comfortable and functional. It will be hot, the grass will be wet in the morning, and you will want a pocket to put your lead in while under judgement. Your job is to get him to the line, wait for a number and take birds out of his mouth. The rest pretty much up to dog.
Good luck and I look forward to meeting you at Saturday's Derby.
