That may be true that we are underharvesting the wood ducks. I will look at the link you sent me later this afternoon. I think the main problem that I have with it is that with the Feds limiting Scaup and Cans on the coast and raising the limit of wood ducks to 3 we will start to see more "johnny come lately" duck hunters in my favorite holes. There are alot of hunters in my area that don't want to mess with just 2 ducks.

Ok....I understand...you were more worried about how it impacts hunting vs populations. I grew up in Wilmington and hunted ducks around there off and on for >20 years so I understand your dilemma. All the spots I used to chase woodies have now been significantly impacted by development.

The beautiful thing about state wildlife agencies is that you have a chance to express your concerns. NC does not have to utilize the 3 bird bag. Right now, on the NC Wildlife Resources web site, you can comment on this seasons proposed regs. If you have further concerns, contact your district commissioner.

Not too many folks would admit to knowing both Bud AND Les. You may be unsavory enough to hang out with me.
Heck, I still exchange emails with Bud. Named a Lab after him too, Budbubba.

One morning I drove over to his fingerling ponds (you can see them from the Cooksville road) to train with my dogs. He was saining the catfish pond with a crew of Mexican help. Bud got out of the pond, all 400 ponds wearing nothing but sneakers. I still have nightmares thinking of that picture!

Almost forgot about, Tommy - the hero of Iraq. He made international news when he escaped from being a prisoner in Iraq early in the war.
