I destroyed my second set of Froggs Toggs this weekend at a HT. Not sure what I did to cause them to rip, other than just you know, run a dog. . . .

No more Froggs Toggs for me. I need some good gore-tex type raingear (not insulated) that will actually last, and not feel like a sauna bath. Would need camo, since I play "both sides" of the HT games.

What do folks use that is actually durable and comfortable?

I'd like some ideas on non-white rain gear.....after this weekend's judging assignment and realizing all I had was white rain-gear (not a good thing) I too am on the hunt for something that will keep me dry, keep me warm with out making it feel like a sauna, also.....

Cabela's Guidewear

Not camouflage but Cabela's sale catalog came recently, they have decent looking Gore Tex for $104 for a jacket and $104 for pants. $40 cheaper than the same set in their fall clothing catalog. That's $40 off for each piece. It's even better on the internet, $99.95 each piece. (I don't personally know if they're good quality or not.)

Cabela's has the camouflage stuff too, more money though.

River's West. Have never gotten wet in the stuff and I've run it down barbed wire fences. Their press kits used to come with a swatch of their cloth and a nail for you to try and push it through. I never go anywhere without it. It's warm too, despite being pretty thin...and they just came out with an even thinner weight. Have zippers for vents in some styles. Can be a bit pricey but I still have my first set after like close to 10 years and have worn it duck, deer, turkey hunting and fishing in all temperature ranges. Just layer up if its cold or wear a t-shirt if it's hot. Can be a bit pricey but 10 years of service, it's worth it.

What about those of us that cannot wear Gore-Tex, because we sweat, er perspire so much that the vapor can't escape fast enough? I can't even wear Gore-Tex lined shoes or boots. My feet get damp when I have tried them, and in cold weather cold as ice cubes.

I can wear a light jacket that is lined with Gore-Tex, if I leave it open.

I bought a nice set two years ago at Gander Mountain. It is their Gander Mountain brand, I think it is Guidewear. I got the set in black. Very comfortable with neoprene at the wrists, vented cape back, zipper pulls under the arms and the material breathes. Full length zipper, storm flaps. velcro, hooded, etc. It is deluxe. I love it.

Good luck wit' that! I own Cabela's Gor-Tex, Columbia' Omni-Tek, Drake's whatever and Hodgeman's whatever, and all of 'em will soak through (unless Nikwaxed) and none of 'em really breath. Also own Riverswest that won't soak through, but it doesn't breath, either, unless opening the ventilation zippers counts. When it's cold and I want to stay dry a long time in a real rain, I wear the Riverwest. When it's warm and I want to stay dry a long time in a real rain, I wear a cheap and thin Hodgeman's parka that doesn't claim to breath.

Get some of the military issue (ECWS) Gore-tex parka and pants. You'll never wear them out, trust me I know. I've put mine through the ringer, military and doggin'.

You can pick them up pretty cheap off of E-bay.

Absolutely the BEST. Cabelas carry a few selected items from them.

P.S. No relationship here, I'm just a consumer.
You must have had good luck with your Drake gear. I had three brand new Drake jackets last year that I had to return because they leaked like a sieve.
My bibs were the same way.

I have always used Cabelas Gore-tex waterfowl gear in the past and I bought into the Drake hype.

I'm back to using Cabelas Gore-Tex Brushbuster gear and I couldn't be happier.
