I refuse to watch the NFL pregame show on NBC because of him.

NBC thinks that by putting him on the NFL show it will help attract viewers to his crappy show on MSNBC.
That show needs all the help it can get and is a cellar dweller.

scumbag, I'm glad NBC and PMSNBC removed him from political news, objective he ain't.
BOB, while I do agree, I must report that as of TONIGHTS show he is back to his old tricks doing political reporting or should I say political smear and personal attack reporting....he's back at SARAH....it was just sickening...I dont have a problem with people going after her political experience, stances, and overall knowledge...but what he and that station does is HORRIBLE....

over all the guy reminds me of a MUTT that PISSED on my ELECTRICAL FENCE.......ALL SCREWED UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who likes this guy and thinks he is what news professionals are supposed to be, objective?

FYI- I dont like him. at all.
Who ever said that Olberman, Madow, Limbaugh, Hannity, and countless others were on the tube to be "objective news professionals". Such does not exist.
They all have their slants/agenda to purvey. It's up to you, the individual viewer to sift through. By watching various venues, you find those you identify with, and you accept some, and reject others. That's the beauty of global network communications, we can all find someone to agree with. A vast array of educational and experiential input bring us to who we are. We will never all agree.
As to Olberman specifically... If he didn't bring in revenue...would he be a presence? Doubtful. Someone out there likes what he says. Same with the other entertainers on the 'tube' and on the radio. And they are all entertainers, the same as the 'Hollywierds' , be they Charleton Heston or Susan Sarandon.

It depends on what they are doing. Those who are supposed to be broadcasting the news, eg Rather, Williams, et al should be reporting the news without editorializing . When I watch the news I want to hear as Joe Friday would say" just the facts" without slant or spin. Commentators, like O'Rielly are not broadcasting the news they are providing analysis of it from thier point of view.

Same with the newspapers; when I read the news headlines from the front page, I want straight news. The opinions should be reserved for the editorial or op ed pages.

Unfortune, but true, Bob, all news is reported with a slant or bias, and has been always. That is why it is incumbent on us as viewers/readers, to be as widely informed as possible. Joe Friday does not report the news, would that it were true. Even when purported as 'straight news' our own bias will interject and slant the report we are being given according to our own views.

Keith Olberman started out as our local sports anchor at KCBS in Los Angeles and bounced around a couple of the local stations before he got the ESPN job...so then he goes from sports commentator to the political desk....couldnt stand him or Brent Musberger when we had them in LA and dont care for either now...

Consider, if you will, that perhaps Mr. Olberman is not broadcasting the news, he is providing analysis of it from his point of view, much like Mr. O'Rielly and Mr. Rove.

Optional Regards,

Olberman's job is to toss chunks of red meat to the kool-aid drinking lefties in the democrat party and to keep them riled up. Plain and simple. He doesn't analyze anything. His brand of hatred works well with the bitter, fringe element in politics.

I turn off Sunday night football during halftime when Comrade Keith appears.

Hannity's job is to toss chunks of red meat to the kool-aid drinking righties in the republican party and to keep them riled up. Plain and simple. He doesn't analyze anything. His brand of hatred works well with the bitter, fringe element in politics.

Fair and balanced regards.............

Joe, I've never watched Olberman. I don't watch any NBC news programming currently. I don't know what he calls his bits, or whether he is doing news or opinion pieces. O'Rielly, who I do watch regularly states what he perceives his show to be, analysis. The difference is not a big deal to those of us who actualy follow current events and have a clue what is going on. The difference is huge with the folks who get all their 'news' from 30 minutes of watching one of the "Big 3" networks on a nightly basis, and for whatever reason believe that they are getting the unvarnished truth.

Bob you may get a kick out of this blog post that a friend sent to me. Obviously objective journalism is dead and the big networks are in the tank for the socialist left.
So what do we do about it? Reynolds has some good thoughts IMO. http://www.pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/archives2/025194.php
