I have searched through all the other food threads. I am picking up
my CLM pup in a few weeks. I have done a lot of researche on dog foods.
I am somewhat sold on a more Holistic type. After reading thesw threads and
researching on the net, I think I have it narrowed down to two choices, either Eagle Pack or Innova.
I don't want to rehash everything that's already been said on this board, but I have two questions.

1. Does anyone have any con's of these two choices, or any real negatives?
2. It seems in my research, that you should not give a pup any more than
25% protein, probably less, to limit the speed at which they grow. Do
you agree with this?

Sorry if any of this is a re-hash, I did not realize how difficult of a decision
this would be.

Thanks in advance

We feed ProPlan, so I can't help you with your decision, but here is a link to a Food Thread that ran here a month or so ago, along with a poll that shows what most people feed. There are differing opinions about puppy food and protein levels for puppy growth, but I sure wouldn't feed with the idea of "limiting" the speed at which they grow, per se. You will want to start your puppy on what he's been eating at the breeders and if you switch, make that switch gradually. He will have a lot of adjustment to do already. Good luck and don't forget to post a photo of the new pup!

Thanks for the info. The reason I mentioned about the lower protein, was there is many opinions out there that if the puppy grows too quickly by feeding high protein, they can develope hip, elbow problems. Again, this
is just the research that I have dug up.

Thanks for the input, I will read the past thread you mentioned.

thanks
