Did not see the other thread.
I apologize for not being up to date on every single thread.
Then I say you are spending far too much time living your life, working and taking care of your family;);)

A true RTF addict, (I would know) will at least glance at every thread posted and if you miss a day or so make up for it with an all nighter to catch up!

Just kidding, I hope you know!

Yeah! What an ultramaroon, I showed all of his stupid videos to my dog at least five times and he still won't run a blind.

If I've gotta teach him what do I need a video for? regards

Lardy's washed up. Has been, last years news. He hasn't ran and won a national since what 03.......:) Move along nothing to see here....

/Paul
Are you really serious? Have you ever run against his dog truck I think he's got some talent. Don R trained alot of those past successful dogs and people know it. But Mike L trained acouple of his own, and ran won with others. Mike L and Don R probably the in the top five of all time, I'm talkin FT dog men. If you are in AZ you have had to run against Remein, Totten, Rorem, Fangsrund, Mosher, MR MRS Whatstherename Twins from ORegon, Sargenti, and some other drop ins in Oct.. Go to WIS or GA and run tell me he is a has been after you seen them dogs...

Ummm...Everyone was joking. I don't have $400.00 worth of Lardy training material because it was on sale at the dollar store.

I think the mustache is a fake regards!

Come on guys and gals!

I'm as guilty as anyone of not reading every post on here. The originator of this thread had a basic and valid question and it is understandable that he/she missed the comments in another thread about Mike's whereabouts at the National. Please, if you want to help out someone asking a basic question, do it. But please let's not point them in the direction of where it was discussed before with a frowny face. If it hurts to guide someone in the direction of a link, please just move on and let it go.

I know /Paul's style. I know /Paul and Matt McKenzie were both joking about Mike. This thread has been brought to my attention, however. Guys, the sense of humor was "dry" enough that this stuff can easily be taken out of context and create a false Urban Legend.

RTF is getting lots of views right now, by those both in, and not in the know. It would be easy for some folks to come away with some very wrong ideas. Mike Lardy was present at the National earlier. His assistant Ray did the handling and Ray was still there standing with a dog at the very end. The comments about Mike being "washed-up" were jokes made by individuals who know better.

I don't want RTF be part of a new scuttlebut with inaccurate, false ideas about what's going on with Mike Lardy, his dogs, his clients, etc.

I just want to make it perfectly clear that Handjem and Mike are fine and are still leaders in the game.

Here's a little plagiarized information that comes quoted from Mike's site and it needs to be updated with some even bigger numbers.

Mike has trained retrievers that have won twenty National Championships; seven National Championships and one Canadian National Championship handled by him, and one National Championship, nine National Amateur Championships and two Canadian National Amateur Championships handled by his clients.

In 2003 Mike ran his 33rd National Finalist. Cotton Pershall had the prior all-time record number of 30 Finalists run by a professional retriever trainer. Cotton's first Finalist was in 1942 and his last in 1973. This record had stood alone for almost 30 years until Mike tied it in 2002 and surpassed it in 2003. In addition to the 33 National finalists handled personally by Mike, numerous Handjem-trained dogs have been Finalists with their owner-handlers or Mike’s assistants

Please, let's not let RTF be part of hurting anyone's reputation, business, etc. Mike is still training, running and doing his workshops/seminars. I think he's busted his tail pretty much daily for a quarter of a century and his kids are getting big. If he's choosing to spend some time with his family while his assistant runs the dogs in the National - good for him!

Let's also remember that Rex Carr, who contributed to the sport immeasurably, NEVER won a National. He sent his clients and students out to do ALL of the competing.

Thanks for reading this!

Chris

Good call Chris. Everyone here started with only a few posts, and took time to get to know who to take seriously and who to ignore.

As for the moustache - I think he shaved it just to trick people who had only ever seen him in videos. I felt like a nucklehead when I failed to recognise him when I met him at the 07 NRC. ;)

Does anyone know when the updated version of the Total Retriever Training DVDs will be released?

Regards, Jason.

My comment AND the frown WAS to simply state the fact THAT people are ALL too quick to criticize and commitent when they are doing it on a computer. Most of the comments said wouldn't be said by anyone in person.
And it also irks me that people are all too willing to jump the gun and make assumptions about some-else especially after they have been successful. Let it go and have the respect for someone that earned it. Yes Pros are human beings as well with families and lives.
Just explaining MY comment.
Thanks!!
Sue

Come on this could have been the next "seat on a duck" thread :D:D

Thanks Sue!

As a married man, I have some trouble reading at least one person's mind. ;)

Thanks for clarifying!

I was just being a sarcastic smart@$$. Which is truly out of character for me. In the future, I will take into account other people's sensitivities before I respond to a post. The last thing I want to do is offend people too stupid to recognize sarcasm. Dumb people have feelings, too and I certainly don't want to be perceived as belittling them. It might damage their self-esteem and I couldn't live with myself if I thought I had done that to a moron.

Turning over a new, more sensative leaf regards,
