I have one lab that can make very quick work of both nylabones and kongs. Any ideas of something that would be safe for him? I need to fill his stocking!

What about the Galileo bone? It is like a nylabone but solid and about 2 or so inches thick. I always buy the big knuckle bones and the femur bones. Little messy until they get them cleaned off but they last a long time.

If you are anywhere near a butcher, ask for "dog bones" & you will get the cow femurs , other long bones, some more cut-up-- all raw, all w/ marrow intact, & all WAY less expensive than buying at pet stores: you should be able to get a big bag of bones for the same amount you spend on 1 of those pet store things, no dyes, so the mess is just what you'd get when your dog chews on a bone: some, but not horrible.

We freeze the bones & dole them out periodically to our 6; they last at least several days.

We get those for our chessie pup. But he has to have them only in his kennel now. He has taken up "bone surfing", putting both front feet on the bone and skating all around on it. Hell on hardwood floors!

Thanks guys. I will look around the grocery stores for them. Sounds like what we used to call soup bones up north. Somehow I have a feeling I better buy some for all 4.

I do the same thing..keeps teeth nice and clean..and I have them cut in the length I want..bigger for the Labs and smaller for the Boykins... I only leave them with the dogs a few hours supervised..seems like the down side is loose stools for a day or so afterward..I guess it's the marrow in the bones??? But it certainly saves expensive teeth cleaning every six months
