I am switching from NutriSource to Native. Mostly because of price. Does anyone have an opinion on either dog food?
Several people I know have gone Native and are happy with the results. Be careful with the level you feed however. 2 is what most are feeding. 3 and 4 are pretty hot with 4 being used for really hard working dogs, mostly sled dogs.

So far I like the Native. I haven't seen any decline in my dog's activity level or coat. I have only used it 1.5 weeks at this point. Once I have used Native a month or more I will give another update. I did notice that the stools are smaller and more firm. In fact some of the dogs had a little problem going the first couple of days. Just an observation but when I would handle the NutriSource with a bare hand it left a little oily residue on my hand but the Native is very dry in that regard and there is no oily residue. My concern is there may not be enough oil for their coat ect. I did notice in comparing the contents on the bag that Native has a lower Omega content on one of the two Omega ingredients.

I don't have access to Native but my friend uses it and they build outstanding coat. That is what impressed her the most about it. I agree completely about using the number 2 and not going up to 3 or 4 because they will get loose.

Mine on Native have excellent shiny coats even on the hard to tell yellows. I started with the #3 for my hard working dogs but ended up going to #2 with all but one as they were all putting on too much weight even in the summer with training, didn't notice loose stools so much. My litters have been on #3 when weaning, they did very well, not excessively fat like some get and nice shiny coats. Good firm stools for everyone.

I have a 1 yo BLM that we have fed Native 2 since we got him. Our breeder recommended it to us. We often get asked what we feed, even by other breeders, because his coat is so shiny. You should not have any coat issues.

The feed store we get it from did a comparison of a pup they converted from another feed and said within in a month there was a noticable difference in the dogs coat. They took before and after pics and it was amazing to see.

Just a heads up to anyone who feeds Native dog food and has it delivered. I usually get it from the Do It Best website and it is shipped to the nearest store, which is 60 miles away(which is free shipping) . When I ordered this time it came up as free shipping to my house! With a discount code I found on the internet it came to $32 delivered, not bad at all.

I've been using the Native #3 for about 16 months with great results. I tried to switch back to something cheaper but it wasn't worth it. I used #2 for a while as well but the #3 seems to agree with my 3 dogs better I just feed a little less to the older dogs.

They also support our club and events. $32 delivered to the house is a good price.

I think native looks like a very good dog food based on the analysis and list of ingredients but would think about glucosamine & chondroitin supplements. 32.00 is a very good price is that a special kennel price or just what it costs in your neck of the woods? EK

This is the price for anyone online! It shipped from Michigan to Maine. Good point on the Glucosamine. I have never been a fan of trying to get it from the dog food. I use Synovy G3 for my dog. It was $25 delivered for 120 chews via Amazon.

I love the Native. I have been using level 3 and my ylm coat has improved but I think at time it might be too hot for him. He gained a little weight on it but he was small to begin with so now he looks the way he should. I will probably move down to the 2 if he keeps putting the weight on. But I highly recommend it.
