Should all Political Threads be put in Potus Place regardless of whether or not they express an opinion? I've been looking for political stuff at Potus Place, and retriever stuff in the Retriever Training Forum.

It seems lately, that the Retriever Training Forum is now getting GDG up with political commentary. And, there can be enough fights, etc just talking about judging without adding in politics.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

yeah, I do

Kevin should have to stay after school and write on the chalk board 1000 times

"I will only post political threads at Potus Place"

I think that "political" posts have a place on this forum if they involve the following:

Animal Rights legislation - this obviously has a potential impact on everyone who posts here and the sports we love

Firearms related legislation - this has a potential impact on many, if not all of those who post here and the sports they love

Any other legislation that directly affects dogs, dog ownership, etc.

Keep the rest of the political stuff on POTUS Place where I don't have to look at it and be pissed off.

I didn't vote in your poll because this type of answer was not an option.

I voted to leave ALL the political type threads in the other forum. I don't care if somebody thinks that all of RTF needs to read the thread - if I want to read it and it is something that directly impacts my life, I will either A) already be aware of it B) will read it in the other forum if it is of interest.

Four years, no way! The fun starts Jan 20th when the Choosen One takes office.

Payback is hell and the Big O will be an easy one to second guess. Just look at the fools he's appointing to high postions! They'll take gooberment to new heights. The question is; will we survive his term in office as a free nation?

Ditto! Some topics are dog related and I see no problem with them being on the main forum.

That convinces me. Leave all politics on Potus.:)

I understand your position. However, "political" topics relevant to dogs, dog training/testing/trialing, dog breeding, and hunting are much more relevant than a lot of what is posted on the RTF. I don't check the POTUS board at all (I've been there once since its inception) because I don't want to get pissed off at other retriever enthusiasts on a daily basis.

I agree, and I suppose I've been guilty of stirring the political pot here on more than one occasion...my thread about the Obama family's choice of a dog, for example. Maybe that qualifies enough as "dog related" that I could plead not guilty. I don't visit the POTUS board, either...I can stay just cranky enough these days without any additional encouragement.

I'm with Booty except I didn't vote as you didn't have enough options - see Huntin Dawgs post below.

Do you know what concerns me? All the estate planners that are out there. Every time excess like this happens the economy goes in the tank. Of course, BO may take care of the estate thing too.

Gotta say I got real peeved the other night when three of the top-positioned threads were political/current events.

I've decided it's like the smoking ban in Ohio...

Philosophically, I'm opposed to it. Let consumers avoid it if it's too uncomfortable for them, and businesses will then limit it of their own accord and those places (threads) will go down in number over time because folks won't visit.

But boy oh boy, do I actually love being in a clean restaurant, and boy oh boy did I enjoy a "clean" training forum. If I felt like it, I could go hang out at POTUS like I've done on a number of occassions, just like I can go hang out at a friend's house or join the smokers on the porch if I want their company.

I've changed my mind since Chris's last poll--to change metaphors--if some kids can't play neat and keep the sand in the sandbox, then dad ought to reconsider having the sandbox.

I'm voting "Yes" for now, but I'm not too far from "Let's be quiet for four years."

Mr. Fallon--the dynamics may have changed since the last poll.

Anyway, it's all up to The Bossman--whatever makes his life easier.

Kevin has been pouting since Chris moved a political post recently.
Now he's testing the boundaries. ;-)

I agree there are a lot of legislative issues that effect us and our dogs, but I doubt they could be raised here without a knockdown dragout resulting shortly. JMO.

Yes, but I can get this info elsewhere. Strange as it may seem, RTF is not the only source of political info related to dogs!!;-);-)

I want to come to RTF and talk dogs and GDG - NOT politics!! But that's just me!:D

I REALLY don't understand the issue here. If you don't want to read it DON"T CLICK ON IT. But it sure is nice to at least see the headline that Obama has added yet another anti to his cabinet. I don't hang out on the sites that would let me know about it but I do think it is important as an outdoors"person" to know this stuff.
So then define "political"?
I heard a few minutes ago that Vick is hooking up with HSUS to attone himself. Is that news at all that would interest folks here? I think it is. Was the thread about the SI article on Vicks dogs something of interest? Is it political?
Is it only political if it has Obama's name linked to it? I understand having the special forum during an election cycle because of the number of issues discussed but now it's different. If Obama is signing a new bill regarding a bail out, put it in the POTUS place(I haven't seen a single one of those added to the regular forum) but if it is about hunting, outdoors, land access, dogs, or maybe even gun rights I think it's different.
