I REALLY don't understand the issue here. If you don't want to read it DON"T CLICK ON IT. But it sure is nice to at least see the headline that Obama has added yet another anti to his cabinet. I don't hang out on the sites that would let me know about it but I do think it is important as an outdoors"person" to know this stuff.
So then define "political"?
I heard a few minutes ago that Vick is hooking up with HSUS to attone himself. Is that news at all that would interest folks here? I think it is. Was the thread about the SI article on Vicks dogs something of interest? Is it political?
Is it only political if it has Obama's name linked to it? I understand having the special forum during an election cycle because of the number of issues discussed but now it's different. If Obama is signing a new bill regarding a bail out, put it in the POTUS place(I haven't seen a single one of those added to the regular forum) but if it is about hunting, outdoors, land access, dogs, or maybe even gun rights I think it's different.
On both polls around 86% of those voting feel otherwise.

What we really need on the Forum is a Singles site
Now that could be on the main page;-)

Zackly!!!! We could call it the Possum forum.

Love it when a plan comes together regards

Well it appears that I am in the minority unless a lot of folks just didn't vote (like me) because none of the choices suited their view.

I will say that this is the first (and sometimes only) place where I hear about dog related issues/legislation 99% of the time. When there is a rash of tainted dog food I hear it here first or ONLY. When there is legislation that makes it difficult for folks like us (like local laws/proposed laws classifying those with multiple dogs as "breeders" and requiring breeding licenses or limiting the number of dogs owned/possessed, etc.), I hear it here first. I would prefer to continue to hear it here first without having to wade through the other BS over on POTUS place. I don't go there. If I want to pick a fight I will just talk to my wife. =-)

Obviously it is up to Chris and I will abide by what he decides (I cannot think of a post of this type that I have ever started anyway), but I think there is room for a very narrow spectrum of political discussion here as long as it is also very much dog/hunting dog/field trial/hunt test/dog breeding/dog ownership related.

The poll is highly flawed.
Define Political?

Well Russ, if you don't like my poll, you have the ability to start one of your own. :D Someone could even start a whole new website if they wanted, called Retriever Politics or Dog Politics or whatever.

I just think that a) Potus place was started for political commentary, and it should be used and b) People who want to get around Potus Place are now GDG up the main site because they are unhappy about the outcome of an election. There was one day where there were four "exceptions" posted on the main forum. Too much IMHO. Personally, I check Potus Place briefly, to see what may pertain, and then get to the heart of the matter - retrievers.

Personally, I come to RTF for enjoyment, not to raise my blood pressure.

Well the irony of it all is that you started this post, a VOTE, on the main forum to discuss it. As I said before, election politics are much different than much of this other stuff. Are you really telling me that if Obama announced tomorrow that he and his staff were commited to eliminating any and all forms of hunting that it wouldn't be worthy of the main forum? Really? So who is to decide where the cut-off is as to the importance of whether everyone should see it or not? Several have already said that they never look at POTUS.

If no politics are allowed then does that mean the politics of the labrador standards? The politics of judging? How about whether a collar or clicker should be the training tool of choice?
Again, define politics?

I do wonder why it is so hard to just not click on it if the title gives enough to tell us what it is about. You folks do realize that a mouse allows one to scroll over a thread title without actually clicking on it...

Frankly, this whole topic cracks me up. I can't believe that people get so worked up about it.;)

Russ, try again. I'm not going to be drug down the path into a political debate. Stop being obtuse. You know exactly what it means.

I am all for discussing politics, just in the proper place.

So if that is the case are we going to have to move the foolball talk also....it gets my BP up.
What about Trekies? I hate them and they get my bp up too. Too much tequila? What about maple syrup? How about the weather, we love to post threads about the weather. I am sure you folks in the great white north hate to hear about our 70 deg highs while it is -75 where your at. Oh and while we are at it I request that we start a prayer forum so everyone who wants/needs prayers can post them there so as not to upset anyone who is atheist or of a faith other than Christianity. I suggest that Chris appoint a content czar who will screen each post before it is actually posted to assure there is nothing other than retriever related content in the post.

It really is simple…if you don’t like the title don’t click it. It is kind of like caller ID, it gives you an option of looking at it or not. I have still yet to see anyone camouflage a political thread by using a title like “Force Fetch Problems” so I am not sure why it is a big deal for those of you who do not want to read the political stuff.

And we still have another 3 months of winter. Whoopee

It happens every year, about this time. People are cooped up and just want to be difficult to pass the time. Once people can get out and train, test or trial, or whatever, they won't be so testy. :)

The three percent +/- of you politicos that have a problem with posting on your own Forum should Lobby the rest of us via PM with what you have to offer in exchange for our vote, till you have enough votes to support your position your cries are falling upon deaf ears.

That's how it works ain't it:p

FWIW

I think that any thread that has something to do with the 2nd Amendment or hunting rights should be allowed on any part of the forum.

Seems some of ya'll have no problem with "tequila" threads, jokes or other GDG.

Whats the big deal about the post that got closed and got this thread started??

Don't like it don't read it.

I can deal with it, can you??

Posted this on a thread that was moved to that "other place".

We all kinda know one another here. From the poster's name and thread title ,we should have a clue as to the content . You saw it because you opened it .

Kinda like the old lady who called the cops to complain her neighbor was exposing himself to her from his house .When the cop showed up ,he saw the guy's house was a hundred yards away , and the angle was bad too .When he asked her how she could see him , she said she couldn't ,unless you stood on the step and used the binoculars .

So what I can get out of this is its more important who won American idol, football, ultimate fighting, gas prices and Gooser's face-book picture than topics like mandatory spay and neuter, gun issues, public hunting land and other related to the dog games issues. I wish I could follow this with a sad, confused and disappointed icon.

At a quick glance as of this minute between GDG, stuff that should be on a different page less than 20% dog training on the front page.
