About 2-3 times a year we get snow with thunder and lightning. How common is this in the rest of the country? Yesterday between 4 and 5:00 p.m. it was snowing hard, the wind was blowing 25 mph and you couldn't see more than 50 yds. Along with came the flashes and rumbling of thunder. I had never of Snow Thunderstorms before moving here.

We have had some in NC also. We just had one a few weeks ago where we got 6-7 inches of snow just north of Charlotte. I have read where when you get snow thunderstorms it tends to snow more. Don't know if there is any truth to that or not.

I saw my first one when I was probably 13-15 years old. Bad snow storm and out of the blue also a thunderstorm. I haven't seen another one until this year. To be more specific last week, with the blizzard we had. It would have been right up there with a servere thunderstorm. Wicked lightning and the big ol cracks of thunder that if you aren't expecting one that loud could make you jump!

We got dug out yesterday, just in time for another moving in tonight. Hey! It's April in the Black Hills...waddaya expect?

I did get a nice portrait of my better 1/2...or as Steve Smith likes to refer to them as: a close relative by marriage. Not Mona Lisa quality, but what the heck, she bakes a great chocolate cake.
