I know a guy who made one out of PVC plumbing pipe. Works okay (or at least as good as the retrieve r trainer).

The PVC slid up below the base. He jigsawed out a little slot with a notch for cocking it. Then at the end he had a T so you could put it on the shoulder. Not as fancy as a shotgun stock but worked about the same.

There used to be a feller from New Hampshire who ran the northeast AKC hunt circuit who made them. I cannot remember his name but he always came to tests in a big white RV Winnebago type thing. Was quite the ladies man as I recall, always trying to get the gallery girls into his RV. He would use old broke .22 rifles for his base.

Shayne Mehringer? LOL

I made my own stock out of PVC. It took me about 2 hours.

The RTR folks make the Lucky Launcher which is a really nice welded steel stock with a trigger to release the firing pin. I have one and it works pretty well for shooting heavier bumpers with yellow or red loads. If you already have the RTR, just go the PVC route. If you have not bought one yet, the Lucky Launcher is nice. You can see it on the www.retriev-r-trainer.com website.

It kicks like a mule.

I've not tried one with a stock, but have a hard time believing recoil would be less than with PROPER hand hold. A properly hand-held launcher is kicking against nothing more than the inertia of your hand and lower arm and what little resistance there is in the hinge of your elbow. But a stocked launcher expends all of its recoil against the much greater inertia of your shoulder and body. Same sort of thing as we scrawny guys who are more easily pushed back by a shouldered gun's recoil actually having to absorb less recoil than you bigger folks who are harder for the gun to push.

Slept through physics and am not sure I've used the term "inertia" quite correctly, but am sure I'd rather not have my RRT up by my head in any event.

Made mine from 1-1/4" PVC pipe and a Tee. Cut a slot with a jig saw in the pipe to attach a "trigger" to the firing pull mechanism.

Hadn't used it for a few weeks and when my grandson came to visit he asked if I still had one. Pulled it out and let him fire a small dummie with a red load. Check the dawg's reactions!

Nope I think I remembered it. I think his name is Dick Fisher and he called his RV “The White House” that was his pick up line I remember him using on the hunt test hotties. “Would you like a tour of the White House?”
