Noise or no noise .We always found that as soon as duck turned toward our decoys we had better success turning off the mojo’s.

Ive been finding that the ducks spook off the spinning wings after the first week. I have found I have much better luck with a jerk string and good calling.

My mojo decoy is few years old an the metal spinney parts are a bit off kilter, so it makes a badabadabada noise that seems to spook ducks (beats blaming myself). Anyone know how to fix it?
Tilt your Mojo to 1 side. Have a few drops of Rem oil, 4 in 1 oil, etc go down the shaft into the bushing. Let it run for about 10 seconds. Do on other side. Helps to use a steel wool piece on the shaft ends too to keep the rust back. That's what they do @ the Mojo warehouse in Bastrop, LA. It works extremely well. Do the oil on each side after every hunt or 2 @ the most.

Buy a lucky duck, no squeaks and 4 times the battery life. Haven't seen a mojo yet that had good battery life.

Ditto duckd not finishing to a mojo anymore

thursday, we were hunting near some friends in another pit blind. They had two mojos out, the duckks would go to them and circle 3-4 times then leave them and come to us, half way to us they would turn and go back to the mojo, circle 3-4 times and then big out......

We have had some success putting our mojos in an attention grabbing spot, but well away from the spread (60-80) yards...... Hoping Santa brings me a few remotes ;-)

Tried the gun oil, I will see how that goes. I really should just get a remote but, it would cost about as much as the decoy (the cheapskate 50$ baby model), the remote would solve the finishing problem and the nosie as I would just shut it off once they started working. There has to be a ******* jerry-rig of a remote.

200 feet of speaker wire :)

A $15 r/c car from the dollar store has all the parts you'd need (transmitter, receiver, servo, etc.) The big issue is going to be channeling the McGyver in you.

Regarding your sound issue....are the wings balanced? If not, I too would suggest a little putty or lead tape.

After, is it O.K. to let the youts slap shoot the little parts that float off the water with .410's??:D:D:D
What if the mojo is a couple hundred yards off, is the .300 win.mag too much?
Heck yeah, water swatting is always not only allowed but encouraged. Just want to make sure the dogs are out of the line of fire.

When the subject of firepower comes up and trying to decide how much is appropriate the savvy ******* can always rely on the standard- "Too much is never enough" yardstick.

Less is -----just less regards

I've been tempted to shoot it after it was "baptised" multiple times during a hunt, and I've always wonderd how many have been accidentaly shot. Anyway it does seem to help me because my spot is a bit out of the way and there is alot of competition. Visibility is tough for me I use almost exclusively magnums, and mix in geese, blacks, and divers becuase they are all more visible.

As for a solution to your problem....first make sure the wings are tightly screwed on as the vibration while spinning will cause noise.

Like one poster said, tilt it to the side and oil both sides.

Also, when putting it on stand in water, tilting it to one side or the other will also help your noise problem at times.

I agree that a Lucky Duck is ten times the machine the Mojo is simply due to construction and battery life.

I too agree that a spinning wing decoy will at times flare a bird. Generally the more chances a duck has to see these in a spread the more cautious they are.

General rule of thumb, early season spinners in the spread. Late season I pull em'.

A little trick. On a cloudy day, put panty hose over the wings to reduce the glare.

I do not use a mojo but have a wind activated goose spinner, and a goose decoy flapper that is activated by a pull cord, am also going to try the new wind activated Windwhacker or Reel Wing decoys during the second split of waterfowl season

I was going to say the exact same thing. That mojo can/will flare birds if it keeps spinning after the quarry has made an overture to your spread. The remote kit comes in pretty handy. I've still had more success with "butt decoys" hooked to a pull-cord run through a little boat anchor.
