I just looked at the classifieds and there is a Lean Mac breeding. The add states that the bitch is a master hunter.

I have never looked into the avialability of Maxx semen but I assumed it was gone. I would also assume that if there were still some around you would need more than a MH to get your hands on it.

Anybody have any info on Maxx semen or contact info for who ever has it?

There have been ads though in the past couple years for Lean Mac semen though.....Its my guess that he would have had quite a bit of semen stored back before his death, like a lot.

Just musing, looks like a great litter!

That is the kind of thing that would make one consider getting a puppy even if he weren't exactly planning on one.

Wonder how much regards,

I've heard it discussed that there is a supply of straws left and I've heard a pretty large number for the price, but I don't want to be involved in speculative conversations about someone else's business. If you are interested in breeding, I suggest you just give the owner a call.
I was surprised by the MH also. I had assumed that only FC bitches were eligible, but I guess that's what happen when I assume. Of course, there is always more to a dog than the letters before and after her name.
As far as the price of the pups, I also assume that it would be far beyond my price range.

Does anyone know how hard Maxx was to train? I've always wondered how difficult a dog like that would be to train (cause of the intense drive). Am I overthinking this?"

What would make you think he was difficult to train ? and why would his intense drive be any different than another champion with intense drive..IMHO the toughest thing probably would have been how to keep him from being bored with training

Sherwin usually has an ad in the Retriever News a couple times a year for Maxx and Prize. I do not think he has ever posted "only titled FT bitches" on his ad. Never assume in the Field Trial world!

I know it's never safe to assume but there are times when I find myself doing it anyway.

Paul, I was not implying that a MH bitch is not worthy. You know me I'm a HT guy. I was just a little suprised that the breeding was not a FT titled dog.

the owner of the bitch is Rob McGehee of RMR racing , if he can afford a race car team or two I think he can afford to a straw of Maxx:rolleyes:

It could be that many of today's FC/AFC bitches have a lot of lean mac in their pedigree... I don't know, just thinking that as prevalent a stud as he is/was for FT dogs, that might be a reason...

I don't know a heck of a lot about the lab breeding pool though...LOL

I think the stud fee has something to do with a % of the sales of the pups and it may be that he just releases two breedings a year but don't quote me.

I've only heard that the ones with entense desire might be above the average handler's ability, just a question, but I was wondering if Maxx had any issues or he was simply perfect??
