Folks, you simply need to move further north to avoid the white stuff! Open water as well. It certainly has been a mild winter here in SE Alaska.

damn, I wish I had water like that in Tok.

I miss the old muskegs...

It is a nice piece of water and I have been using it a bit with a vest on the dog. Short retrieves with a warm up between. She has been enjoying it. I had another one with more opportunties for re-entries but the beavers put a dam on the outlet and it is not nearly as useable.

What are your air temps running up there? Also do you know the water temp? The picture is beautiful as is every other one I have seen of training grounds in Alaska.

Are there job opportunities for little old ladies who can throw ducks and hike out blinds? Or how 'bout for old men that can fix, design or redesign web sites along with houses, cars or what have you?

Can you tell I am envious????

coastal Alaska.....get the warm air currents from the pac NW and voila..no snow. :) (not that they don't or can't get snow, cause the do and can!)

the rest of the state is enjoying a fairly mild winter as well...in Tok we are probably averaging 10-15 degrees above normal temps....but we still have snow. LOL!

I bet RN is enjoying temps in the low 50's or upper 40's? water temp about the same, I'd imagine....

Ketchikan is a nice place to visit...but unless you want to deal with over 160" of the wet stuff a yr, you probably wouldn't like to live there...besides the only way to get there is by boat or plane...and no retriever clubs...We lived on Prince of Wales Island, to the west of Ketchikan for about 9 yrs...wonderful place to live, except for the rain...LOL.....My husband had a good job opportunity in Ketchikan about 4 yrs ago..it was either move to Ketchikan or Tok...I opted for Tok, because I could at least drive to hunt tests (and the 'rest' of the state (almost) . :)

I see the Lab, but what is the brown and white dog looking critter in the middle near the water?

Wait a freeakin' minute... how can that be Alaska in February.
Is Ketchikan still part of Alaska???

I thought it was going to be annexed by Bellingham. :p :p

Better yet I'm starting rumors that British Columbia is storing weapons of mass destruction...it needs to be part of the US, then I would simply move east!

Julie is dead on about our weather. I've had winters when I could train in water but it has been awhile, this has been great this year.

Anyone willing to throw marks is always welcome regardless of age!

Tha'ts my wife's Border Collie. He can be a PIA, he picks up the blinds when I'm not looking and carries them off.......come to think of it he picks them up w/o a whistle.
