Well now you have 3!
You need 10 so I guess look for threads that you can comment or contribute to meet the requirement!

Thanks for replying! I have a total of 7 private messages and have been able to respond before. I even looked in my sent box to make sure they went through on my older posts. I am not doing anything different from before, so I am just curious what the difference is today. Unless there is a new rule I am unaware of?

A while back there was a spam problem. I think Chris made it so you had to have 10 posts in order to pm. That way someone cannot come on register and start spamming pm's to everyone.

Well? Did it work?

Actually Brother Steve Dannaway gets the credit for the setting of the minmum post count before the ability to PM.

Steve keeps adding more and more anti-spam, anti-bot protection, and it seems the crud keeps creeping in from time-to-time.

The incident that created the issue was a deal where a guy/bot registered an new account. This new registrant then sent over a thousand PMs via RTF, to many folks, with a virus warning and a URL link that led to a virus-laden website. Some folks fell for it and clicked the link, and the moderators were flooded with emails, PMs etc.

So that was the "last straw". This 10 post minimum may not stay in place forever, but that's why it's there for now.

Thanks! Chris

Yes, it worked, thank you! The sad thing was that I had written a nice, long post which promptly went away! Thinking I hit a wrong button, I re-typed it, but it happened again! Anyway, the third time I was smart enough to copy it, but then it worked! Thank you very much for your help!!

Spammers are very annoying! 10 is not so bad, so I didnt mind doing it, and I do understand. Normally, I just kind of lurk on here and read, so very rarely post. We are good now! Thanks!
