My 1 yr BLM has been FF and CC and I started working on transition. He was doing double T and had started doing some de-cheating. However due to family concerns I have not had time over the past few month other than to get him out once or twice to do some marks. What he needs most right now is handling , selective forcus and de-cheating exercises. For the next month I'm sending him off to a pro to help out in the transition work. I'm wondering in in one month what I should expect? What could I expect if I left him with the pro for 2 months?

Two bills....instead of one?

But seriouly, the first two weeks will mostly be about adjusting to new routines and a different trainer. Therefore, one month may only yield a couple weeks of new training. It is hardly worth it. Even expecting a huge turn-around in two months may be a stretch.

I would sit down and talk with your Pro and explain your expectations, and ask their thoughts on how long. Remember, this is just an estimate. But simply ask them, what can I expect in one month, two, three etc? I would also discuss a schedule of updates on the dogs progress. Good luck

In one month you shouldn't expect much. If the pro is someone that you have been training with so that he knows your dog, and if you are using the same system to train, you may be able to at least not lose any ground and ensure that your fundamentals are sound.

If the pro doesn't use the same or very similar system/method, I wouldn't send your pup unless you are willing to adopt the pros methods when the pup returns home.

Any trainer will take a couple of weeks to bond with your pup, and many will want to review basics to make sure thare are no holes in your foundation training.

Regarding your basics, it sounds like you may not have completed them. You said you did FF and CC and he was doing double-T. If your TT was complete, most programs would move to swim-by before transition work begins with pattern blinds.

Perhaps my use of the terms is incorrect. I was lumping Double T and swimby in with transition work. Our water here has only been open and warm enough for a few weeks so very little water work.
