The info on the Working-Retriever site is not exactly accurate about the dry camping. We have a beautiful pasture (40 acres) across from the fire station on Lake Shore Road on the Running Y property. There is another field for airing, and we are able to drop grey water, fresh water available on site. There will be a $10 fee per night. Please contact Michael Moore at 831-236-5619 so we can give them an accurate count and for directions. Thanks.

Also, there will be NO DRY CAMPING at the bird barn on Hwy 66. The traditional field used for free dry camping is no longer available. The bird barn has moved to private grounds without camping access.

I was thinking of camping in the back of the suburban right in front of Lanse's motel room...I know for a fact it will be more comfortable than the crappy pull out bed I had at the motel in Utah :p...my back is so messed up I may have to go and visit a doctor..any suggestions:rolleyes::rolleyes:

where is the nearest Starbucks ?

FWIW, I don't like the pull out/roll away beds either (same goes for hide-a-bed couches). If I'm forced into using one I always remove the mattress and throw it on the floor. Seems all those springs and straps and support bars are the real problem.

this thing was a set of springs covered with cloth, no cushion at all...My brother warned me before I came up so I brought the sleeping bag and new high density foam pad..and Lynn I heard the same thing about the floor, but I question the source of my info :p

Hmmmm, FOM just got a new camper....wonder if she and David are going to mosey down to watch some of the National........

If Butthead was qualified and I had vacation time I would be there!

For now I get to watch from the sidelines.

Costco has a nice blow up bed mattress on special.

All will be well. If these camping places dont work for you then I am available to suggest others.

We also put together a list of "where the locals go" for things such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, etc. We also threw in things like where to get dog food, what vets we use and good little day trips. I put it out to a few folks and they have said they learned something. Hell I even learned some stuff about my own little town. This should be available at the Field trial headquarters.

I will be gone until Monday on a family mini-vacation. If for some reason you want the list ahead of time, e-mail me at huntinggold@hotmail.com

Other news:
Usually the mosquitoes are bad this time of year, but so far it has been nice. Bring bug juice just in case.

THe weather has been cooler and wetter than usual for May and June, though we are still in drought conditions. Water is going to be tough but I think for the tests we are ok.

If you are here to run a dog, please make a point to find me. I am the last minute stand in announcer. I wish to chat so that I can learn your name, how to pronounce it and how to pronounce your dogs name correctly. It may be tough as I am a little slow (in the noggin).

See ya after the vacation!
