My chocolate Lab, Abby, is now retired and living with a wonderful family in Louisiana. They adore her...she sleeps on the kids' beds, gets to hunt with dad, and has a great life in general. They called me the other day to share this story, and then sent pics to follow up.
Seems they found some abandoned (and very tiny) kittens in a parking lot, and took them home to decide what to do with them. Abby, being the motherly critter she is, promptly adopted them both. They curl up to her, try to nurse (which she encourages) and when the family tried to move the kittens to a different room, Abby wanted them back with her but couldn't pick them up like with her pups...so, she pushed them down the hallway floor withher nose, one at a time, until they were where she wanted them.
