OK people here is a simple thing to do when you get an E-collar. Register it with the company who makes it! If you register it you can get customer service without having to produce a sales reciept and more importantly if you lose it, a person that finds it can get contact info/name of the person that owns it by calling tritronics, dogtra, sportdog, etc... and you can get it back.
I have found an E-collar (tritronics pro 500xls) and a transmitter (tritronics sport) while out training and neither one was registered. Tritronics was able to tell me the store each was sold at but neither was registered by an owner. Carried both around for about 6 months asking everyone never did find owners...

I'll be doing this from now on.

It is a rule of thumb that most manufacturers(marketers) want you to register their products so that they can send you advertisements and junk mail and spam or sell your info to some marketing company trying to separate you from more of your money. I choose not to apply this option for that reason. Are you saying that this might be an exception?

I have never recieved any junk from TT, but if would not have registered my gear they wouldnt have fixed it 2 times and gave me all new batteries all the way around. I make sure I register high dollar items. 300$ waders replaced free due to fillin out the form and then submitting them for repair.

Kelly... that Pro 500 is mine!!! Thanks for finding it and posting...

(where did you find it??)

Think of it like a microchip for your collar and transmitter.
Can't speak to everything the companies will do with your information, but the warrenty registration card does protect you. I think most people have spam filters now and everyone can register with the "national do not call list". Junk mail gets tossed in the trash.

All you have to do is tell me the name of the store you bought it from or which pond you were at when you lost it and I will send it to you right away....

Mikes in MD.. He was joking but hey you got a free Pro 500 ;-)
LOL all I have is a free reciever to a 500 xls would have to buy a transmitter and a charger and have them linked....
The tt sport transmitter I could use but would need to buy a new reciever and charger...

I thought you were going to say the most important thing to do was strap it to your own arm and feel every level before you decide to use it on your dog. :)

The T pond at Prado. It is most certainly mine. (Sorry Mike, I win.) BTW, I can't name the store where it was purchased because it was a gift.

Actually it wasn't at the T-ponds, but you are first person to say they have lost a 500 xls so it might be yours. When are you coming back out and do you still have the transmitter?

Good to know. I have become leery of registering anything.

That's also a concern of mine, but certain items I make exceptions for. Namley, expensive electronic devices, that will often carry written or "unwritten" warranties, including a stated battery life. Nowadays, custom battery packs can run almost as much as a products purchase price.

I had to take an Apple laptop in for service. They scanned the barcode, and asked me by name if I'd like it shipped to my home when the repair is done, or if I'll pick it up! No receipt, no id needed.
