GRHRCH UH Buddy Ryan's Jim Bo 5/15/96 - 10/11/10
Today at 2:54pm
I am so sad to tell you that GRHRCH UH BUDDY RYAN'S JIM Bo, beloved by Ellis Howard and so many in the HRC Family, earned his Final Retrieve today.

Jim Bo was 14 years and 5 months old. He was the first HRC Retriever to earn over 5,000 UKC Championship Points and ended his career with 5,015.

To add to that amazing achievement, Ellis decided to give back to HRC by becoming a Judge in 2004, during Jim Bo's prime years, and has judged 39 Hunts since then. We can only imagine how many he would have earned had Ellis not been so selfless.

In my years of working the Grands, I have taken thousands of photos. I took the following photo at the 2003 Spring Grand in Memphis where Jim Bo earned his GRHRCH. He is sitting in the seat of Ellis' van waiting to run - in the drivers seat, of course! I absolutely could not get Jim Bo to look at me because he was keeping a close eye on his 'Dad' in the distance. One of the sweetest photos I have ever taken.

Ellis, I know how much you loved Jim Bo - I hope you know how much he truly loved you. God Bless you for being there today when he needed you the most and making the heartwrenching decision to let him go on his Final Retrieve.

Big Hugs, my Friend,
Claudene

A special bond existed between Ellis and Jimbo. I am fortunate to have seen them work together, and consider Ellis a friend. Ellis gives back to our sport and I encourage his many friends to make a donation in Jimbo's memory to the the HRC Foundation, here is the link : http://www.huntingretrieverclub.org/foundovrview.htm

That was a difficukt post to read. Deepest sympathies. When you inspire a dog to do what he does out of love for you and a sense of loyalty -you are in this for all the right reasons.

Godspeed Jimbo. Wait by the bridge.

I had the pleasure of watching Ellis and Jim Bo run at our hunt tests and Ellis also judged for us they where a great team and even when Jim Bo got older and couldn't run very fast he was still impressive to watch RIP Jim Bo

Sorry for the loss.

So sad. Another one of the legends of the SE HRC is gone. God speed, Jimbo.

I doubt Ellis frequents this board, but he has my sincere condolences. Ellis and Jim Bo were an incredible team. Godspeed Jim Bo.

Sorry to hear about Jim Bo. A great one for sure!! The first picture is priceless, so regal and not giving a care that his picture was being taken. He was waiting for his dad.
