Alligators are becoming pretty plentiful as least as far south as Corpus Christi and we don't have many days when it is cold enough that I am confident that they aren't active. (another reason I am primarily a dove hunter) and unless you live within about 10 miles of the water, it will be 100+ for at least a few days in the summer and there is a big difference between 90 degrees @ 30% humidity like you get in the panhandle and 90+ degrees @ 90% humidity (which is what you will have from May through September in most of the coastal region of Texas.)
