My female Beta not only lifts her leg, but she will also follow all of the other dogs around and mark over their urine (boys and girls) and poo's , plus will tear up the grass with her feet like the boys. She is VERY dominant as well to the other girls.

Oh, yeah... my first female did this. But she was intact and a fairly assertive girl. My current little female was spade at 6 months pees in the normal fashion. I wonder if hormones and dominance are the reason they do it. (Or maybe it's just more comfortable one way or the other...)

I would vote for dominance. I have had females that hump other "lesser" females and it is a pure dominance issue.

+1 my chocolate used to be the same way

Nope,. not neccesarily intact.. Most of my girls do it,in fact wait in line one after another to pee on where someone else pee'd. Most of them are already spayed , and have been for years.

This is my girl Tikka ALL the way, even the kicking up grass afterwards, lol. When she squats, one leg always hikes up, lol, BUT now our Pirate girl is 6 1/2 months and she is starting to mount Tikka all the time and is starting to show some dominance, but Tikka for some reason just doesn't seem to care as of right now so idk.

Also my old boy Duke, who is now neutered, has always had a BAD habit on peeing on women (not me thankfully), and also his favorite thing to do when another dog has his/her head to the ground is he will go next to them and hike his leg and literally pee on them, ugh!!!!! He makes me so frustrated when he does that crap, lol.

Reminds me of my first lab. One night she was playing with my wife on the floor, crawled on top of her head, squatted and peed. I almost peed my pants laughing. My wife hasn't ever lived that "golden shower" down.

All 3 of my bitches do it. In fact, they also pee on the fence where my male goes. Amazing how they can get their legs high enough to hit his mark. Two of them kick dirt/grass afterwards and look ever so macho. If I put all 3 girls out at the same time, they'll actually back up to each with their tails just about touching and pee. They used to squat and watch where the others were going and then run over and mark over that spot and on and on, but after a while, I got tired of watching them play "ring around the pee spot", and broke them up so now they mostly do the triangular thing.
My avatar is of 'The Head Alpha Bitch'--small packages can be so cute and soooo deceiving.

Hi from MN!!

Our Lena does this. She is very dominant to say the least. Lena will wait until the dog, male or female is done and then pee on their pee. Usually!

She really likes marking on the males spots. She also has been known to push the male out of the while they are still going and mark on it at the same time. This is frustrating because sometimes she dribbles on my male dog!! He doesn't appreciate either!!!

Thanks for this post! I thought I was the only one with a female leg lifter! Now I also have a male who squats!! But that is a new subject! Haha;);)

Good luck! :D:D
