We cut a flight at our test a week before the test. We had 25 entries, ended up with 30 dogs. We turned away a number of last minute entries, clubs need to plan waiting till the last minute to enter doesn't help
I don't know why a hard deadline is so sensitive with some (maybe a lot) of folks in HRC. All the other venues have a deadline and enforce it.
It makes the planning so difficult when a club may or may not have a bunch of "walk ups" who are expecting bird throwers, good birds, meals, and all the other stuff that goes with a test or trial.

Our Club usually figures on a "half as many" sign ups the day of.
If we have 20 dogs pre-entered, we plan on 30, etc.
For sure, it's a pain in the arse, but usually worthwhile dollar wise.

Cut off dates in HRC are tough in some areas where HRC is not as strong. In the south their flights are full and I do mean that there are multi flights running down there.

I expect that the closer we get to the Fall Grand the clubs in the north will see more dogs running.

Chris I will have the pleasure of judging with Mike Perry, (YES THE MIKE PERRY) Hmm I seem to have heard those words before with my name :) We will be at the Lower Columbia test in OR the end of June.

I ran an excellent finished test in Vegas that Mike was judging. Big dog water test for sure.

Central michigan is hosting a huntest at Omega Farms in Willimston, May 28th. I would like to invite all of you to come watch or participate

Saturday finished is full. Sunday has 3 slots

There are opennings in started and seasoned both days.

Just heard last night that my co-judge in Finished at Flyway had to drop for a family emergency - his replacement will be...... Mr Mike Perry. Looking forward to it Mike.

Have fun guys. I was really looking forward to the weekend as originally planned. I'm glad it is working out for the club and the participants.

I'm going to take my boys up to Joliet to watch some friends run a trial. My kids think Jim Harvey is somewhere between a celebrity and Santa Claus. They can't wait to meet him. I'm afraid they may think his dog is orange though. They may be surprised to find that Juice looks a lot like their own dog.
