Finally made it through Lardy disc 5.

At the end he gets really emotional talking about great dogs in the past: Lottie, Cotton and a few others. He recounts a story from I believe the 1993 NRC where Lottie is the only dog to achieve success on a specific test. Talks about Cotton's intelligence. He is talking about their heart and courage and those magic moments when all the training come together and the dog just knows the right thing to do.

That was really neat to watch him recount those stories and get emotional when thinking about great dogs and their courage and heart.

My respect and admiration for Lardy went up a few notches after watching that segment.

Awesome stuff!

I know a few real macho Montana dog guys who shed a tear at the end of that tape. Not me though:rolleyes:.

That is one of my favorite parts of the Lardy dvds. I can't remember exactly how he said it, but basically Lottie didn't drive to the top of that hill because she had been forced in training.

That feeling is what I love about the game. I ran an 18 month old female lab in a derby last year. She's small and doesn't have a lot of bottom end. The fourth series was a big water double with the memory bird through a lilly pad pond then across a bigger pond with logs and stumps and muck...probablly 200 yards or so. Biggest she had ever seen. She just kept going and going. We didn't win a National or even that derby, but that girl gave me every thing she had that day. And she didn't do it because she was forced.

Mike said it better than I ever could, but the feeling you get when your dog shows that courage and heart to finish the game is incredible at any level.

That sounds like an opening for a new thread! I bet we all have stories like that to share!
