I am from coastal Maine and I need to purchase a new pair of waders for the upcoming season. I often hunt when the temps are in the mid 20s, so they need to be warm. I sit on ledges when I sea duck hunt, so the seat needs to be tough and some what tear proof. I am always in water up to my waist, so I need something with tight seems. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Cabelas super mags

If you have a sportsmans warehouse near by go there. The only reason I went with the sportsmans brand is because I happened to be at the store and I could try them on but they are the exact same mm and thinsulate as the super mags. But I also hunt with 2 guys that have the super mags and they love them just as much. Either way you can't go wrong

For neo's its hard to beat the best - LaCrosse Super-Tuff or LaCrosse Brush-Tuff

I've become pretty partial to Hodgeman (now owned by Coleman) breathable waders, plenty warm on the cold days (as long as your not standing in the water for a long period of time) and very nice on those days where its a not quite as cold and you sweat inside neoprenes....

I spent some time researching when I bought my waders, and the LaCrosse brand were developing really bad customer reviews over the last couple years. That shyed me away from them... Just wondering how your experience is with them, Josh,

They are alittle pricey, but Drake's waters are really good. The thing that really sold me on there waders is my buddy has a pair and last season was the 2nd season he hunted in them and the seem spilt. Well like anyone else I said I'll not ever buy a a pair of those a season and half and the seem splits, well he called drake not expecting much other than to complain about the product. He told the guy what happened and they said I need a credit card number and we are charging you for a new pair, a new pair is in the mail, and when we get the leaky ones you'll be credited back the cost of the new ones and shipping cost.

Thanks for the responses. I need to retire my Lacross waders. Last year they developed a couple of leaks. I had them for 5 years. I was thinking I would buy some new ones, but, I am discourged by the reviews. I wonder how many pairs they actually sell. Bean's actually had good reviewson the same Lacross, go figure. I live pretty close to them, so I could take them back if they didn't work out. Even though they guarantee everything forever, If I got 5 years I wouldn't try to have them replace them. I like the 1000 gram, and I am concerned that the 1600 gram might be to hot in the early season. Maybe I need to buy 2 pairs. I have been saving my weight circles from my pro-plan bags and have enought to get a $350 gift card. Maybe I will order the super mags and cough up a bit more for a second lighter pair. Again, thanks for the input.

Cabelas also offers a one year free replacement on there super mags and pro rates them after that. That's what originally sold me on buying there's

the key to comfort in waders is what you wear underneath...I wear breathable Cabelas waders YEAR ROUND, wore them in ice and snow in Idaho, but I layered them with UnderArmour cold gear and wore $10 heavy fleece pants purchased at Costco, wore merino wool socks with and underliner...you work up a sweat putting out dekes, but are not left with that cold clammy feeling in the blind...plus I can use my waders in the summer, you cant do that with neoprene

I have 3 different pairs

Breathable-for early season(sept goose- early teal)

3mm for most of the seaon

and 5mm supermags for the late season good stuff

All Cabelas brand.......Not because I think they're the best or the most durable.....The supermags are very nice and the others do the the job....But because they are basically a life time garuntee! Bring them back to any Cabelas 1,2, 3, 6 years later and they take them back no questions asked! if you have your orginal receipt you get credited what you paid... Or an even excahnge for the same model brand new....if not, they look them up and give you the going rate(even discontinued items) I brought back a pair of 6 year old 5mm Adv Wetlands waders that my dad used...I paid $100 brand new got $60 credit towards a new pair

I have LaCross not sure of the model 5mm and 2200grm thinsulate boots. No problems never got cold. Stood waist deep in the water that was freezing around me for hours and never got cold....my 2 cents
