I just finished "Lone Survivor" Last night.... Man what a book! What a ordeal and story!
Before I bought the book I watched all of the you tube clips and his speach at the NRA Convention, I knew I liked him already, but really had no idea how much I would respect him after reading the book. If you have not read it take a weekend and read it. WOW!!

That original post about his dog was the best thing I have ever read on RTF had that not been posted I never would have heard of Mr Luttrell.

One question left remains... what ever happened with the dog killers and the possible dog donation?

I heard today that the DA will not take a plea deal will try for the maximum sentence. Which it is only 2 years for the first convection. Supposedly they are investigating some other shooting of dogs but I cant see how they can link it back to these guys; unless someone talks. So far as I know he as not given any thought to replacing his dog at this time.

Lone Survivor is an awesome book. Should be required reading for any civics class in H.S. to show what sacrifice really is.

As far as the dog killers, a short sentence is probably the worst thing for them. They'd be better off locked away, out of reach of Mr. Luttrel's network of friends. They better learn to sleep with both eyes open while in the slammer.

I also read "Lone Survivor." What a story, what a "SEAL." Our servicemen and women need to be respected and honored by every American. It upsets me that I do not think Obama as "Commander and Chief" delivers that support.

As a service member getting ready to deploy in support of the globar war on terror.....It saddens me to see our commander-and-chief taking away some valuable assets and funding to keep our freedoms at home and abroad secure.

I was in a store today and over heard workers complaining about this old man sitting in a chair with his walker kind of in the middle of the aisle which was kind of blocking the path. He was wearing a WWII veterans cap. It took everything I had to not go back in the store and tell those people that this man has earned the right to sit wherever the hell he pleases. It's because of guys like him and all veterans who have served this country bravely that I get to wear the flag on my arm today.

1st Thanks for your service.

2nd I wish I would have been there and known that. I've got a big mouth and ain't afraid to use it. I would have gone all the way to the manager. It may not have done any good, but I would have been loud and embarrased(sp?) the hell out of the those pukes.

What he said! I did not serve in the Military, but my old man's name is on the Vietnam wall and I am a 10 year Law Enforcement vet... you have all my respect.

Socks, your signature line is great. A great, but very sad part of that book.

I didn't serve either. Biggest regret of my life. My Grandfather served in WWII and my son is named after two Vietnam vets that were big influences in me and my wife's lives.

At the risk of sounding like a wuss that line brought a tear to my eye. Here, they are facing their deaths and all this guy cares about is his buddy and his wife. Talk about self sacrife.

Just ordered the book. Really excited to read it.

Dad was a Marine and the rest of my uncles were in the Navy. Drove to the recruiting office several times myself but for some reason I just couldn't get myself to go in. I have the utmost respect for all who have and those serving this country now.

My roommate was the Seal referenced in the end of the book "Mario" that Marcus flew back to Afghanistan for. They are close friends to this day. What an incredible book and story. Having lived with Mario and talked with him a lot, these guys are the toughest dudes on the planet and the fittest people in the world. Mario can do 90 pullups in a row! He is an absolute stud and the most level headed dude I've ever met. They have incredible composure and ability to work under pressure. The story of Marcus's dog has been told by me so many times to honor just how awesome these guys are. Those fools in Texas messed with the wrong dude!

HUNTSVILLE -- Former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell still feels upset about the shooting death of his service dog DASY almost three years after the fact.

When the local war hero took the stand Thursday in the cruelty to non-livestock animals trial of Alfonso Hernandez, one of the two accused in the case, Luttrell said he was so angry the night his dog was killed that he drew a pistol on the car the suspects were riding in.

"I wanted to take a shot at the driver, but I figured if I missed and shot out the back window, I would not be able to catch them," Luttrell said.

If you need to, you know that you can leave Siege with me again. Won't promise another title, but I'll be glad to put her back in training for you while you are gone.
You should have asked for the manager and told him what you posted. If it was any where but a WalMart, something might have been done. If it is a chain, call the 1-800 complaint number and file a formal complaint.
Be safe please.

What you quoted was NOT from 2 years ago; it was posted today.
Did you notice the word "again" at the end of the first sentence?

Mr. Perry has apparently assisted this soldier in the past and is willing to assist him again.

Good on you Mike Perry ; and thank you Mr Greene!!
What HE quoted was from 2 years ago.
