Absolutely. I just used them to collect and ship chilled semen last week. Dan Hurst recommended them and he was right, they definitely know what they are doing in the Repo department.

Sachse Vet Hospital in Sachse Texas.
Thanks for the information. The next breeding I plan will either be in the great state of Texas or heading to Symbionics in Kansas. I am giving up on the Oklahoma repro vets in Oklahoma City and Stillwater. I am now at 5 attempts in three years with 4 different vets with no results, extensive progestrone testing, using both frozen semen surgical, fresh extended, and side-by-side AIs. Bitches have had complete screenings for thryoid, vaginal cultures, and even ultrasounding.. Perhaps leaving Oklahoma for the next attempt will break the puppy God curse..

I understand no vet can guarantee results but I have had 3 diff PM's from people and another on phone. Out of the 4 people that have used sasche there has only been one pregnancy in 7 surgicals. All have done the surgical 3 days after they hit 5 on progesterone. When I called they told me same thing. The day she hits 5 they do the surgical on the 3rd day after the 5 reading

Terrie, they say Dr Law has an unbelievable record- something like 93%-97%. I sent some semen down and my repro vets also checked him out before sending and they were amazed at his number. http://www.symvet.com/Home_Page.html

Everyone has their own system, ICSB used to recommend insemination 48-60 hours after progesterone reaches 5, don't know if that is still the case. When I did them I followed Synbiotics protocol which was day 5 or day 6 from the initial rise in serum progesterone levels, that day being counted as day zero. I did not do a great many but I had good conception rates.

Since progesterone values vary lots in a given population of bitches there does not seem to be a number that is always dependable.

Owning a stud dog, my situation is different than yours. I was impressed in how experienced and professional they were compared to other vets I have used in the past. They specialize in Repo work, were very flexable on getting me in there on short notice, had a teaser bitch at hand, were able to evaluate semen on the spot and are a certified ICBS semen bank. However, FowlHunter's post regarding a poor record of only one out of four pregnacies does raise a red flag for bitches.

The post regarding poor record does not jive with the feedback I have received from people that use them.
People rarely report successful outcomes of any procedure they tend to only report the unsuccessful ones.

I'd find the best I could find in reasonable driving distance. You could have the progesterone tests done locally, so you would only have one trip for the surgical AI. I've heard good things about Dr. Ruglia in the Bryan/College Station area.

Not to hijack my own thread and there was a recent one that talked about it some. If every dogs progesterone escalates at different rates and they just schedule your dog 3 days after it hits 5 without anymore test couldn't that be a problem? People mentioned before it has to be much higher for the surgical AI but couldnt a dog theoretically still be at a 5 or a 7- 3 days later so she wouldn't e at the right number for it to take?

My repro vet tests them before the surgery-they told me they like them to be above 15, and most of mine were done at 20-25 with as big of litters that they had naturally. Contrary to what some posters say, it is not always predictable, linear or the same for each female.

It amazes me that vets that advertise reproduction as a service do not follow-up with their clients and track statistics, if nothing more than to know their own success-failure rates. I know I've asked the vets very politely because of the financial and emotional investment and planning I put into litters, what their success ratio was with their surgical AI's and all look at me like I just ask them to give over their first born...plus they can't tell me. And I do know that other issues come into play, it's not all on the vet...but with the costs today to try to get pups on the ground, it would be helpful to know their stats.

This is just a suggestion, because I know nothing about any of this. But I have read some on here about Mary Tatum of Watermark Retrievers. I looked up her website and it says she is a vet at Brittmoore Veterinary Hospital, and their website lists reproductive services. You might email Mary thru her website and ask if they can help you with surgical AI, or who she would recommend. From what I have read, she knows labs very well, she is a vet and the vet hospital is in Houston, so she is not terribly far from you.

Just a suggestion from someone who knows nothing about all of this, just piecing some things together that I have read....so keep that in mind.
