I was with someone who was registering. When they started it said 28 dogs. By the time they were done it was over 80 and that took all of five mins.
Crazy. Glad I won't be running master for a year and a half or so. Hope by then things have worked out.

 

Its looking grim for me. I only have 2 tests that are under 3 hrs away. all the rest are 6+ and the first 2 have sold out within minutes. Doubt I'll be able to do it this year. I noticed at midsouth over 50 of the 120 were already MH. Not as many as I thought.

 

Mike, Pontchartrain HRC will be holding a double Master on Oct 31- Nov 2 in New Orleans area. A long drive but double master. We are limiting to 60 per day but we rarely fill up and it is the week after the MN ends so most going to the MN will be traveling home.

 

This has become ridiculous and is on the verge of ruining the last venue for the true amateur. I am not anti pro by any means. I think it is great that we have talented, dependable, hard working people to take our dogs to for training when we are green beginners and to teach us along with the dogs. But when it comes time to enter your dog in a test, it is time for the owner to step up to the plate. At the very, very least, require the owner of each dog to make the entry for him or her self. If they don't even have time to get on the computer and type a few keystrokes, they sure as heck do not need to be taking the opportunity away from everyone else. I have stayed out of this issue because I do not personally have a dog that is running Master. But I see friends locked out of events and I see the day coming where it will be a game for pros only. Not what was intended.

 

I have been saying this all along about the owners entering their own dogs. Does not matter if the pro runs them but it would slow the entry process down a lot.

 

I am not "putting this on the pros". Instead I am suggesting putting the responsibility on the owners. Then they enter ONE DOG AT A TIME. Sure, because of the things you mentioned, there will still be some that don't get in but there will be some equity in the process.

 

I wanted to mention that just because the dog has a pro handler name next to the entry doesn't mean that the owner wasn't the person who actually entered the dog. When entries move so quickly, seeing the same handler name in a row does not necessarily mean that tne pro entered all the multiple dogs.

 

This is true. Some dogs being trained by a pro are entered by the pro and some are entered by the owner. Back when I had my dog with a pro (maybe 6-7 years ago) he never entered my dog in a test. I always entered my dog on EE or otherwise and I handled the dog but I listed the pro as an alternate handler in case something came up and I couldn't make it. Also by listing him as the alternate handler I was assured that I would be in the same flight which was nice because he could usually see the dog run, critique my handling, etc.
