Choc, people have good and bad experiences for various reasons. This does not make any one individual's experience more or less valuable than the rest. However, most people are not comfortable speaking negatively about another person on a public forum. The legal aspect aside, the retriever game tends to be a small world and publicly bashing someone tends to make a person quite unpopular. As such, personal communication, as you are witnessing here, tends to become the norm. I should add that I am not aware of the kennel in question and do not know anyone that has had a positive or negative experience with Mr. Milner. Private communication also allows targeted conversations with different people regarding their experiences without flooding a thread trying to carry on multiple discussions at once.

Tactful regards,
Andrew

I have a question. Why aren't trainers, and breeders treated as any other business, and discussed openly on the product review forum? They are operating as a business same as Ainley Fabrication, or Cabelas or any other business or product discussed on that forum. They should be open for discussion, good or bad for the services they provide. Hopefully allowing customers a chance to research possible businesses that they might do business with, instead of going in blind.

Can RTF name YOU as the Defendant in the lawsuit when it is filed? Will YOU pay the attorney fees needed to defend the case?

This particular equine has been so thoroughly thrashed that even the scattered remains of the corpse are in tatters. Never ceases to amaze me how whenever ole Kernel Bob needs rent he cons one of his shills to post up and even though that bait is tired and stank some dumbass hits it anyways.

Same-o-same-o regards

I don't know anything about this trainer, but I have figured out how to access the quality of a trainer throughout my years of doing obedience. If you ask for opinions on a trainer you will often get rave reviews. This is a great way to go down the wrong road and find yourself in a ditch.

Forget about people's opinions because many people are delusional...at least they are in obedience. Go to a trial or test in your venue of choice. Make note of who is winning. Ask them who they trained with. A pattern will emerge. This is the advice you should follow.

For amusements sake, make note of who is not in attendence and who is doing poorly. Find out who influenced their training. This will often take you back around to the same people who gave you rave reviews.

As I said before, and as others have alluded to, this has been discussed on RTF ad nauseum. Use the search function and you'll be able to see the chatter, good and bad.

I have a dog that whos daddy was a duckhill dog. The genetics seem great, I've used milners methods to train, to an extent. I've incorporated a few others here and there. I do firmly agree that the complete positive reinforcement method he preaches is easier for the trainer, when you look at the psychology of the dog most of his stuff makes complete sense. I've purchased his videos and watch his forum on a regular basis, I will say that he comes across as condescending. The man seems to know his stuff, and I have a 10 month old pup who is very disciplined that I trained with no prior experience following his methods. If you do not intend to run trials ect... Then I would say his training methods are great, he's more of a hunting mans dog trainer these days.

I have only seen one true duckhill dog and he was good, my pup has duckhill bloodline and is calmer than your typical lab, had majority good traits that you would ask in a dog.

I know now this isnt a critical article and I have never delt with the man personally but this has been my experience.

No BS
