Steph, I agree with ragingun. Don't panic. Take your time and be thorough. It's not so uncommon for a dog to go backwards. When he does, back up to a point where he succeeds, Resume the process there, and advance as your able. You are not back to nothing, but have just begun the work of convincing him that he HAS to do the work. Fetching alone is not the entire point of FF. This is when he really comes to realize he works for you. He will submit, but you must keep insisting on it 'till he does. jmho
 
Steph, I think Moosegooser's point is right on. Fetch means fetch. Not askin'~tellin'! That said, I think you did the right thing putting her away to try again later. The point here is to impose your will, not your wrath. But your will must ultimately be met with complience.~~~Mike
 
Corey, I couldn't agree more. I hope my post didn't look like I was suggesting the dog should get away with refusing a task. I only meant to say if a trainer starts to become angry, it's time to start looking for a successful end to the session.
