give the OP a break. I don't think he was asking our opinion on using them....just our opinion on how many he would need.

There are likely many reasons. The most basic reason is that you want young dogs learning to mark to see the bird. With a gunner in white, you get the pups attention for the throw. They are helpful when teaching early multiples as the dog will see the gunner and it may help the dog remember the bird. They are helpful when running marks with very strong factors in that you can be comfortable in knowing that the dog is giving in to the factor and hasn't simply forgotten the mark. They are useful in making a gun attractive to the dog like when teaching two down the shore. The suction of the white may influence the dog to get out early.
Many trainers of both hunt test and hunting dogs use white In their training.

Some of the peanuts need a harder shell...:rolleyes:
