How do you find the Hunt Tests that also include a Qual? I can't figure out how to search EE for that combination. I guess they do still have them, right?

yes they do - hey there is one up here (at least there was last yr, I think) - you should come up! ;)

I don't think we'll get quite that far this time, but we sure would like to.;)

Not 100% sure, but I think that the only HT/Qual combo you'll see is an Owner Handled Qual on the same weekend as a HT. Not real common - we did the 1st 4-5 years ago. The O/H Q may actually be listed as a FT and the HT listed separately.

JS, is that on EE? How listed? HT or FT? Thanks.

Carol - its a HT on EE - I probably will enter Spice if she comes into season in JUNE like a good girl when she is supposed to ;) Hopefully she'ss have her MH by then.... just 2 more to go!

If all goes right - I'd share a hotel if you wanted or even the ride up to share some expense.

The Fort Collins Retriever Club in Fort Collins, Co. has a Hunt Test/Qual each year (5/8/09). You can do a search on EE under Hunt Tests.

Carol,
The Blackhawk Retriever Club up in Wisconsin has had a OH Qual along with our Hunt Test the last couple of years. This years events are are the first week in May and the last weekend in August.
We also have (2) 4 stake field trials during the summer that we have just a regular Qualifying.
They are listed in EE under the hunt test site. I don't know of any way of selecting out the HT's that have the OH/Q.
These have been very sucessful for us with alot of positive response from the handlers. It has been a good way for the hunting test crowd to get a taste of the trials without having to commit a entire weekend and also not having to compete against the pro's.

Danielle, I think I want to do that. Let us get back from cross country trip and work on it. I just wish I had something for Indy to do on the trip, but without a chance to get him in a group situation, I don't want to enter him in a test. He has been awesome lately.

Great!

We can work out all the details when you return.

However, keep in mind - Spice is the only one of my dogs that can handle the Q so, if she does not come into season on time I may not chance the enter and scratch... She has been pretty consistant in her cycles so I am confident it will be a go.

I think Central NY did one in July or maybe it was their Sept test they past few years. O/H Qual on Friday, HT on Saturday. Kind of fun.

Do a search at www.akc.org. Go into Online Services, then Events and Awards Search, then choose Hunting Test or Field Trials and the state you want to search.

The combo for Blackhawk's AKC Hunting Test/OH Q in May shows as a "FT/HT" in the Event column.

As Randy noted, the combo event has been successful at introducing people who typically run the Master level to the Qualifying. We've been fortunate to have good field trial judges who set up typical Q tests.
