I think my 4 y/o lab, Simon, has one of these between his toes. I tried to take a photo to post but he wouldn't let me move his paw to get a good pic. We trained yesterday and he ran quite a bit in the fields. I noticed last night that he was limping a bit. This morning he was really limping a lot and his paw was extremely swollen. This evening I noticed that he now has a large red nodule between his two toes on his front paw. Just wondering if this sounds like an Interdigital cyst. I am taking my 1 y/o, Miles, to the vet tomorrow for vaccines and wonder if I should bring Simon along to have it checked out or wait for a few days. Could it just be an irritation due to something he stepped on yesterday in the field and it would go away on it's own? Opinions?

I don't know. But I would sure want the vet to look at it and tell me it is not an abscess or something. Had a dog that had an almost invisible puncture wound on a pad (from running in a stubble field) and it was nasty before we really knew what was going on. Antibiotics and rest put it right.

I know more about people ailments than those in dogs... but red, swollen, painful is infection until proven otherwise.

My 11-year old retired MH has had problems "off and on" for several years since picking up numerous foxtails in his paws during training which required 2 surgeries. I finally ask the vet to take a culture about 6 months ago, and he was treating it with the absolutely wrong antibiotics. 3-4 weeks of a new antibiotic, and so far he has not had a flare-up..

I am going to try the apple-cider vinegar solution that Susan suggested if we have problems again.

Do a google search on interdigital cysts in dogs, and you will find a ton of pics. They are very common in bulldogs!
