I agree with "Ragin Gun" and first meeting on neutral territory. Don't even bring pup home. Have another family member bring the Jack Russel on leash to the neutral meeting place and take them for a walk. Give them both equal attention and do not force them on each other. Jack Russel will probably have its nose out of joint for awhile when he realizes that thing on the leash is staying at his house. Don't expect love at first sight, and do expect to have to keep them separated and a watchful eye on them. Also, be calm and relaxed at the first meeting as if this is no big deal.
