ANYWAY, I LIVE IN FT LEONARD WOOD, MO AND I AM TRYING TO MEET SOMEONE WHO LIVES KINDA CLOSE BY THAT WOULD BE INTERESTED IN TEACHING ME ABOUT A FEW THINGS. YOU SEE I HAVE NEVER BEEN DUCK HUNTING BUT REALLY WANT TO DO IT. I ALSO DO NOT KNOW ALOT ABOUT HOW TO PROPERLY TRAIN MY TWO LABS. I KNOW IM ASKING ALOT AND NOT MANY PEOPLE WOULD EVEN WANT TO DO THIS OR GIVE UP ANY OF THERE TIME, BUT IF THERE IS ANYONE THAT WOULD BE WILLING. PLEASE SHOOT ME A EMAIL ON HERE OR AT THE EMAIL I WILL PROVIDE BELOW. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH.. HAVE A GREAT DAY...

thanks again and god bless...

I have always found that when you go looking for a mentor, you will never find one. the mentor will find you...if you immerse yourself around good people and in this case good dog training people a mentor will usually arise and the strange thing is they wont even realize they are the teacher and you are the student...

I have been very fortunate to have a few different mentors in the dog training area, initially my brother Clint and then George Wilson...I still talk with my brother almost 3 times a week and talk nothing but dogs or hunting..I get a refresher pep talk from " uncle George " when his schedule permits...but lately I have been able to learn a lot from W.D. Bill Connor and Lanse Brown and their lessons go further than how to set up a particular training scenario or test...their lessons are on the life lessons learned while dog training which teach you more about yourself as a person and some of the subtleties of the sport...

Join a retriever club or two....somewhere there is someone just waiting to impart their vast knowledge on someone like you who is willing to listen and learn

gary, first off, thank you for your service. You've earned some good help, and if I weren't 1000 miles away I could plug you into a mentor, or guru, or whatever.

But, I agree with those who have suggested joining a club AKCor UKC or NAHRA if they're around. There is a world of good folks waiting to help you.

Gary,

It seems to me we've spoken before. I'm in KC, MO. You are welcome to train with us anytime. On odd days during the week we have a spot in the duck boat, so contact me with your schedule and we'll try to get together. Fair enough?

Gary,

Thank you for your services in Iraq. You and all others that risk their lives to defend our great country deserves all great things that come their way upon returning home. As far as Evan's offer, please take him up on it. I live quite far but would just about quit my job an move for an offer like that. WOW!

Evan,

This offer to a service person is great. It speaks very highly of you and I would like to be the first to say THANK YOU for such a gesture!:D
