Been watching geese land out in a huge corn field that has no cover. Interestly, they land near an old, dead meter house, surrounded by weeds.
Had a thought.
Why not sit in it as a blind?
This evening, Trap and I did.
Set 11 full bodies out and barely parked the truck on the field edge and walked back, when the geese started in.
Trap was steady and ran one down with a broke wing.
I love my buddy.

Outta sight in the corner.

A limit in just short order.

Just goes to show that the most important thin g is to be where they want to be.
A good friend who is no longer with us once told me that he thought the best blind in a flat rice filed was a tractor sitting next to a propane tank. They always want to be there, so just sit next to it and be still.

That looks pretty cozy! Nice thinking! Is this your property's meter? And you did not have to build it!

It's a dead well. I have been hunting on an Indian Reservation since the end of November.
Scouting is key to success. To me, ducks and geese are like locusts. They decend on a field and in short order pick it clean, then move to another.
I've lost the ducks for now. Work got in the way. When I get time, Im hoping it wont be too hard to find the clouds of thousands heading somewhere.
Last evening was a quick set up scouting trip. Didnt see a duck, whereas, we had thousands on us just a week ago.
