Sorry-I'll have to look to see who ran, but the Qualifiers at the 2007 National Am were:

Trifecta's Bet on Me

FC AFC FTCH AFTCH TNT's Stanley Steamer UD***, Can MH, WCX

FC AFC Emberain Beau Geste

FC AFC Lacrosse Max Q Jake JH

Tsk Tsk Don't step on toes.
Everyone has the reason for doing what they do with their own dogs.
Better ask John and Andy why the Junior Hunter title is on thier FC/AFC Golden.
I would only be guessing as to the reason.
FC Mioak's Chunk of Gold,SH had his Senior Hunter title as a youngest than when on to become all-aged qual. then they never turned back afterwards.

What an odd combination for a field champion.
....and just why do you think that is odd????? Everyone has to start some where, where John and Andy decided to start is their choice, not odd, and certainly not yours for question or criticism.

Getting a little fed up with this forum regards,

Diane

John is one of those handlers who gets really nervous on the line, so he started off running Jake in Junior to gain a little more confidence in himself and his handling skills. I've heard he (John) is almost ready for Senior.

You can do it, buddy!

Jake isn't the only FC/AFC with a JH title. Nitro (Lab) has his JH after his name also. I am sure there are others.

I lot of us started in hunt tests. In my area, sometimes the only way I can get birds for my young dogs is to run JH tests, etc. I have a MH on FC/AFC Yellowstone's Dust Devil and 5 MH legs on my FC/AFC Bart. They love every minute of running those hunt tests.

Good for Jake!

it wasn't criticism...it was a comment...I thought it an odd combination...that's all..call it thinking out loud. Typically I'd see a MH if there were a HT title with a FC title. No malice was meant.
The problem may be that you read too much into someones comments.
I find it commendable when any golden reaches a FC or AFC plateau.

Melanie; Lets let John go at his own pace, remember there is a blind in Senior.

My apologies, you are probably right that I read too much into your comment...just seems these days on the RTF that everything is an attack and I happen to be fond of Jake and his owners....Over reaction...Very sorry.

*whew* (think "audible sigh of relief" here....:D)

When you "Golden" folks start to turn on each other, it's surely a sign of the Apocalypse or worse......glad you all got that straightened out and the "warm fuzzies" going again.....

If Judy Chute would just open her excel file that holds EVERY Golden field accomplishment of 2007 (at least....;-)) in it, this thread would've ended after the first couple of posts....surely before the 5th one! :p

As an aside, two Goldens ran in the 2007 Canadian National Open ...it was a shame more of the qualified Goldens couldn't compete.

Topbrass Smooth as Silk, owned by me....Medie Robinson ...got to the 7th

Trifectas Shag-edelic ...got to the 6th

First and foremost congrats to John, Andy and Jake as Jake qualified for both Nationals this year. Secondly, everyone should know the difference in titles. AFC is Andy making Field Champions and the JH is John Handling. Sorry John, had to do it. Love ya!!!

What an odd combination for a field champion.
Good inquiry ... in fact, there is a good explanation for JH..that might be a good thing to know. Glenda explained why some ("field trialers") run their young retrievers in JH. and higher stakes, too.

A trial atmosphere, flyers...and greater control of a young dog than at a Derby Stake. You probably know ..at JH a handler is allowed to "gently" hold the collar or leash until releasing the pup for marks..and the distance is not nearly the long marks in Derby..so, even there, (probably ..LOL ) more control.

There are many hunt test people that do not bother with JH..but go straight to Master...so...it just depends.

Actually, I think that I reaped this knowledge ...from John and or Andy..possibly via the Forum ! ..and I think "Jake" has several Master legs?
