I'm having problems with my Shur Flight box launcher and Dogtra remote electronics. First, the receiver and transmitter are fully charged. They are several years old (probably 7 or 8 years old at least) as is the Shur Flight (same age). When I hit the sound button the receiver makes the sound. When the launcher is not loaded and I hit the launch button the release moves rearward as it is supposed to. Based on that I know the transmitter is not the problem.
When the Shur Flight is loaded (release mechanism is under load) it is not firing most of the time.
There are several possible explanations I can think of, but I want to hear what you all think and if you know of any remedies.
First, it has occured to me that my remote releases, being old, may not have enough battery power to work the release mechanism under load. If that is the case, what do I do? Send for repair? Buy new units? Is there some way for me to order new batteries and replace the batteries in the receivers (I have 3 receivers)?
Second, I had not used the Shur Flight for several years but just got it out to start to train my dog for upland. Having been put away for several years, is there some part of the mechanism that I can access that can be oiled or otherwise adjusted?
Any other ideas?
Thanks for any info or suggestions.
PS - I am NOT claiming a defect in these products. I have had them for years and I'm trying to solve the problem so I can get them working the way they used to.
