A good friend of mine had his lab bred so he could get a puppy...the sire he used has a good pedigree but his dog's pedigree doesn't really have a lot to it.
He wanted a male and I mentioned to him that I'd like a female lab someday...since he's a good friend I got the pick of the litter's females and she was free. My dad got one of her littermates. I guess my first question is, how do I tell is she's going to be a good hunting dog? I'm not looking for field tests or anything with my first dog but I want her to bean asset in the field.
I've heard of the "big three": Desire to retrieve, desire to please, and ability to work under pressure. How do I tell how she will be? She seems to be a smart dog as she's got sit, down, come, kennel and sort of has heel and hasn't had any accidents.
Any help would be appreciated!
