I currently have a lab that i take upland hunting and he does great. He is my first lab and he has never had formal training such as force fetch or anything like that. He does great in the field with what i assume is his natural instincts. I am currently on track to get a puppy from Cory @ Double TT British labs in Kansas. I am wanting to get into field trials and hunt tests and I was wanting to check them out this year but COVID hit. I have gone through this forum a few times but only recently joined. I am planning on going with Hillman puppy training, and Lardy's volume 1 articles followed by Lardy's TRT2. I have read a bit about training but i was wanting to see if anyone had any tips for someone as green as i am on the training aspect of this. Can this be done on my own with just the training materials? Is there any training materials i need besides the planned ones. How hard is it to get through this training with the dog? I don't want to over think this and be overwhelmed and i do not want to under think it and be ill prepared. Also i have read about people saying to ask a pro, who would be considered a pro? Any Information you could give would be great. Also this is my first forum so sorry if its in a wrong spot or something along those lines.
