39. A dog sent on a blind retrieve should "AT ONCE" proceed in the general direction of the line given by the handler. A dog that fails to do so should, in the ABSENCE of UNUSUAL EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES, be eliminated from the stake.
The only thing that would be open for discussion - 1) is there a Judges prerogative? & 2) is remote casting addressed by this statement?

Personally, I would want to see the situation before making the judgment to eliminate the dog.

there is no initial line on a remote cast blind and IMO remote cast blinds are illegal according to the rules.........
We have a WINNER!!! Were the Rules actually written in a manner that dictated individuals be blessed with good sense prior to holding the book.

I have only seen this test once - circa 1970 - so it isn't overly popular. Except where Glenda runs.

As I was contemplating this topic today it occurred to me that if remote cast blinds reveal some good quality in retrievers, why not remote cast MARKS too, indeed I'm working on the concept and plan to implement it the next time I am forced to judge a 100 dog Open.....;-) ;-)
The way some of these dogs creep - it would be an advantage for them to go from the remote position they are used to starting from.
