Dogpeople,
Please pray for my 14 month old Callie. When we woke up today it was clear she was in bad shape. She wouldn't eat, she was very weak, and when I touched the back of her spine she was in a lot of pain. I got her to the vet right away. They took her temp and it was 105. She was still very alert and could walk so I don't think the high temp did any brain damage, but am not sure what is going on yet. He put her through the ringer, 770 dollars worth of care, tests, and meds. She was at the vet all day and all the test came back okay. Her hips also looked great. They have no idea whats wrong yet. I have her home with an iv and some meds and I'm going back first thing tomorrow. He found a nasty bite mark on her spine that looks like it could have been a spider bite. Her skin is red around the bite and also on her belly. He said that still doesn't explain the 105 degree temp though. They got the temp back down to 102 with a steroid and I will keep a close eye on her tonight. Thank you for your prayers!

I hope she is going to be okay- Best wishes from the gang here....

Frightening... I hope she feels better soon...

Have they ruled out a blockage?

I'll keep her in my prayers.

Sincerely,
Kristie

I hope and pray Callie is ok. Get well soon, girl.

Boy, had something very similar happen with one of my pups this spring. Woke up, her 10 week birthday, lethargic, obviously painful in the spine the way she was hunched up, back legs wouldn't work right, fell over if she tried to walk, wouldn't eat, 103 temp. Diagnosed as meningitis, some sort of staph infection in her spine, it responded to an anti inflammatory injection, fluids, Clavamox, but only held for couple days before she got worse again and her legs/joints swelled up, trouble walking again and spiked another fever, switched to cloramphenacol and Deramaxx, took 3 weeks but she finally was back to normal. I think it was possibly a tick bite but we really don't know. It was so sudden, normal the night before, down and out in the morning. Hope your girl responds and you get some answers.
