I have a ~12 wk old BLM, and I was finally able to get my hands on a bird the other day to introduce him to birds for the first time.
I had a fresh-killed pigeon (still warm), and the pup was on a check cord. When I threw the bird and sent him, he was all over it, but only brought it back a few steps before laying down and trying to swallow the thing whole. I was able to get to him relatively quickly and when I picked him up, he grudgingly let go of the bird.
I'm psyched that the pup is so birdy, and not really worried about anything that happened, but I am looking for advice on how to proceed going forward to avoid any bad habits developing. Frozen birds only? Take a week or two off from birds altogether?
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Matt
