So what you going to do if the bitches Hips/ Elbows come back as a fail?

Will you tell your buyers that she failed her hips and/ or elbows or what???

While it is great that her sire and dam both had excellent that is no guarantee that she will not fail. Yes, chances are she won't fail but you are rolling the dice, none the less, by breeding her before ALL her health clearances are done.

And who ever the stud dog owner is needs a kick in the a** for agreeing to allowing their boy used in this instance.

Linda, welcome.:)

Billie, we are in a very rural area. I am checking to see if my vet can even do that test.

My pride and livelihood are not at stake so if this doesn't take this round with this stud it'll be ok. By then clearances will ALL be done (thank you Linda) and we'll try again another day.
patrickb,

While no one can guarantee a pup will not have HD/ ED just because the parents are cleared, I know I have done everything I can by testing before the dog is bred.

Sorry, what you are doing is a HUGE no-no to me and many others. I know too many dogs who have failed clearances after being bred and they in turn have passed that problem onto their offspring.

You've been a member of this list for a while now...you know the majority preach responsible breeding starts with ensuring all health clearances are done. Same with buying a pup. One of the first questions should be..."show me the health clearances on the sire and dam."

Good luck. Hope everything works out in your favor.

Linda - I am the owner of the stud and I appreciate your kind words - It reminds me of the old saying, "It is better to be quiet and make everyone think you are foolish than open your mouth and prove it!" You have no knowledge of the agreement that we have in place or why I would allow my dog to serve as stud!

I have also appreciated all of the great advice and humor on this site, but the self-righteousness of those who have no insight into the specifics of the situation is staggering!

As patrickb said, these dogs are being bred for friends and for his personal training. Not only that but all dogs are going to be available only with limited registration.

Now, if you guys don't mind I need to go back to worrying about my dog because unlike patrickb my pride is wrapped up in my dog's performance and my secret fear that he is quietly singing, "It's Raining Men" in his head!!
Right, since the pups are going to friends that makes it O.K. to bred a dog with out basic health clearance?? Reminds of the PRA B to B breeding and the breeder who explained to the affected puppies owners. "that your dog might go blind but, heck, we are friends so let's not worry about it."

You need to read your own quote.

"It is better to be quiet and make everyone think you are foolish than open your mouth and prove it!"

Like I said, hope everything works out O.K.
